Mr Kobe has cut several shotguns stocks and installed a new pad. The work and timing were both excellent.

If they argue with your prices, you don't need their work. Plenty of paying customers, don't need the bargain shoppers (cheapskates).

I've never done business w/Jim and never priced his work because he's a shallow man. He's followed me around on two different gun sites calling me a cheap skate and demeaned me any way he could. I never said a word to him or about him until I got fed up. I don't think it's something you guys want to get in but in the middle of. Just remember, if he can start trouble w/me w/o any provocation who's next? I tried to warn you Jim but I guess you're just hard headed. Now go back and work on your BB guns. I've got a real gunsmith finishing up a $2500 Mauser build. Cheap skate huh? powdr
*Thanks for the offer 358...I found someone to do it.

I have seen a couple posts asking about work which would normally be just every day tasks for the average small-town gunsmith. Has such work (recoil pads, bolt handles) really become so specialized that people have to search the internet to find a place have it done? When I worked in a busy retail gun store, I probably did twenty pads every week. Early in my career, welding new bolt handles on Mausers and Springfields was done almost daily and was just part of what a gunsmith did. Now, gunsmiths don't contour barrels, don't weld, don't fit stocks, don't do any of the things we did as every day tasks. They put pre-fit barrels on Savages and Remingtons and screw them into a McStock. Just goes to show how time has passed me by! GD

I think this guy is a little paranoid. I quoted him a price on some service befoere and he told me I was too expensive (opposite of cheap)

Lotsa guys want to hang their shingle out proclaiming themselves to be gunsmiths without even having many of the skills a real gunsmith has. Sign of the times I guess.

Don't know anything about your experience with Jim, but he has been upfront, exact on his estimates, and Guild quality work. Jim is prompt also.
greydog, I sure understand.
