My wife , stepdaughter and I would like to make a fishing trip to Alaska this summer.. My sd is after a halibut, and I would like to catch one also, but we would like to pick up some salmon and maybe try a day for grayling.. I have looked at lodges til my eyes water... We don't want romantic getaways, or a lot of people.. Just a good old fashioned fishing lodge with some variety... My wife is just going along for the fun of it, she may fish a little.. My stepdaughter is dead serious about fishing.. I enjoy it but it isn't a passion with me.. Anyone suggest a fishing lodge the might fit what we need?

Not a lodge but you could get ahold of Calvin from here on the forum. From everything I know he runs a top notch charter and might be able to help ya out.

Yep, I'd second Calvin.

You are looking at a bit of a difficult task combining halibut and graying, though.

From Anchorage you could do both on day trips, but to get good graying fishing will take some traveling from the coast. It can be done, but you will have to be lucky, or drop big money for a fly-in trip.

If you'd like to try something different check out Waters Edge Lodge in Elfin Cove, AK. Took this trip last year with a cple buddies and had a blast. It is absolutely gorgeous, the staff was great and the food delicious. It is different because it's 'self guided'. They give you locations/ hot spots on the GPS depending on what you want to fish for and you pilot your assigned boat making your own adventure fishing for halibut, salmon, sea bass etc. You leave when you want and return by dinner time. We each returned with ~90lbs of said fish.

40 years ago I fished on a power troller in the general area and Elfin Cove always stood out as the prettiest place in SE.

I worked for the company that does the boat transport for Water Edge and several other SE lodges. They consistently produce a good amount of fish. 2017 they had a phenomenal early coho run like I've never seen. Another one I like is Whalers Cove, they have both guided and un-guided boats as well as freshwater/ stream fishing.

Driftboater, I was probably running the boom truck or forklift unloading your fish!
