Dan, Each year I look forward to your thread here. Thanks for posting. I began chasing the whitetail around the Adirondacks (still hunting) 1952 and have never seen bucks greater than those that you have on film. Keep on keeping on. Jim

BE STRONG IN THE LORD, AND IN HIS MIGHTY POWER. ~ Ephesians 6:10
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. --Winston Churchill
49 degrees this morning weather has flipped to cool so hopefully this gets deer moving...still shooting for Sunday as temp at 6am is forecast for 40 degrees
Good for RC, and yes, get it on Dan, I let a nice 16" 8pt walk yesterday, thinking he had a big buddy coming up, no dice, mom and her fawn came by too, along with one then another yearling doe, had a silly young buck aggravating yearling daughter number two that was a few yards behind mom and gang, funny as hell to watch and hear them bleating lightly amongst themselves, sit tight on that one too thinking dad or grandpa would be behind to run young jr off the yearling, no dice, when big boy messes up, I'll be there!
I saw I'm waiting and have high standards....checked cards again today at property with the big 9 pt and only doe and a scrappy little buck....tic toc tic toc 1 week till stuff gets real but I'll likely dip my toe in Sunday am
I've had this buck on the trail cam on and off for two seasons.....He didn't get that big by being careless.https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/tmp/82337.jpghttps://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/tmp/82338.jpg
Great just got this message as I was typing the above post this is in reference to the drop tine buck from last year
"Hey sorry been doing some traveling for work. I suspect he was killed sometime between the 2-9th. I have a few years of info on him across field videos, glassing, pics and date tracking when he shifts his range. I physically saw him opener evening but he has been MIA after that. He typically started spending more time south and east of us third week of oct through mid nov and even at worst we’d get middle of night pics or vids. I have nothing on him after oct 1. I’d be shocked if he’s still alive. Ah well.
Put it this way - I haven’t gone a week without pics of him since 2016."
never know,he could have an early hot one. Beauty of a morning,40*driving to my spot. Seen 7-8 doe early and a yote, other than tree rats been quiet last couple hrs. First time out, just had to get away from everybody.
I'll hold out hope he is wrong ya never know I'm monitoring my cams and other hunters reports and it's just too soon for what I'm looking for.... by next weekend the full court press will start regardless
I’m hoping on my property that a bigger neighboring buck comes by to harass all my does (I’ve got a ton of em) and kick that 9pter out....I also hope nobody else shoots that 9... But I’ve got a son, daughter (looking for her first) and my wife who also will be looking for her first....never can tell what will happen. I am not gonna tell them to pass him up for their first deer, regardless of his broken point though I can wish.
I saw five doe and a flock of hen turkeys from my stand I got down just at dark and when I drove around the backside of the property into the cut cornfield there was about 25 doe freding in the fresh cut corn stubble Along the back edge of the field about 30 yards from where I was sitting when I killed my buck last year was a very big buck I think it was the one I have pictures of it was just too dark to distinguish fully At any rate he was a shooter
Tomorrow morning I have my first sit of the year. I’ve got tons of daytime pics of bucks around my property but nothing that really grabs me at the moment.
