Hi Scott. Don't know about the .17 Mach2 NTX. From what I've learned, nobody I've talked to either on the web, or in person is happy with the current lead free .22 LR ammo..... The .22 RF Magnum apparently works well. I can tell you it shoots quite well in my Ruger Single Six. Been told it kills well too.
I kicked that meadow where you and I killed Grouse some time ago. Didn't get anything up. Decided not to hit my best spots. I've let myself go in the last year and am not really fit enough to go there. By next year, I'm going to be back at it. Hope and yours are well. R

Hey R,

Long time no see! I think it was about 6 or so years ago I took the boys to that meadow. Call it a hike to far... They were lagging by the time we made it back to the truck. All in all a good day afield though, even though no grouse were sighted. The boys got to see a Garter Snake attempting to eat a toad, saw some deer, some bear tracks, and I was able to demonstrate just how destructive a 12 guage was, reinforcing the need for gun safety.

Anyway, I picked up a box of the Copper .22 at Bass Pro on Monday. Just to see how it shoots in the 10/.22. Which, dumbass that I am, cut down before really taking a peek at the stock. Hint: It wasn't stained Beech as I assumed.

If the CCI stuff doesn't work, then I may go the route of using a Marauder pistol with the buttstock sized for the boys. At least that way they'll be able to shoot at small game with something that's reasonably accurate, and possibly a bit lighter than the Ruger.

Get back in shape, and let's see if we can all get out next fall, or maybe even summer for a little fishing.

Scott
