Anyone tried the 7 MM 175 grain ELD-X in a 9.5 twist factory barrel?
I got some to try in my Ruger 7 RM.

No but only because I have my doubts it will stabilize.
Better chance in your RM of course than my 7mm-08.

It should.I know my 7mags shoot Hornady and Winchester 175gr bullets well,I think they would shoot the ELD-X bullets too.

Using the Berger twist rate stability link they show their 175 as marginally stable. The ELD is probably pretty darn close. According to their info the bullet should be accurate, but the BC will be off by about 5%. I'd try them if it were me. http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/

I will give them a go. Thanks for the heads up on the calculator.

Keep us posted. I’m interested in your results as I was also ogling the 175 ELDX. I have a 1:9 twist 280 AI and was discouraged by the twist recommendation as well. I’m running the 162’s at around 3K with great results but the higher BC is always attractive.

I may give some of these 175's a run.

Mine too. Haven’t had any issues transitioning from the AMAX to ELDX’s. RL19 and RL26 are my two favorite powders for 162’s in my AI at max load. Seems to like things stoked 22 and 25 did really well too

I think I am SOL on my 1-10 280AI but it does just fine with 168s. My 1-9 RM should have no problem with them.

A 168 out of a 280 AI won’t bounce off of much. At least in this hemisphere.

My 280AI loves the 162gr ELD-x over H4831. Smoked an antelope buck with it on Columbus day at 208yds; it dropped without taking a step. Normally I would've used my .260, but I picked up the .280AI earlier this year and wanted to see how it would carry and what it could do on a hunt with the ELD-x bullet. No complaints.

I had heard some complain about the ELDX being finicky but I have found the opposite. I run 143’s in my Creedmoor and 162’s in my 280 AI. I have been able to get really good groups with three different powders in my Creedmoor and five different in my AI.
