If anybody cares, Henry just announced their single shot in .30/30 and .357 Magnum.

I'm looking at these pretty hard after handling a .223 in Cabela's. With three young sons, two left and one right handed a nice single shot is appealing....

Glad to see those, I know several folks have been wanting that in .30-30. I hope they can get them on store shelves more quickly than they did when first introducing the model.

Both should sell well. Because I couldn't find an affordable single shot from anyone else, I bought a Contender. I would have bought a Henry if they were offered then. I'm surprised Henry didn't offer the 30-30 when their single shots were initially released.

Wish they would do 357 Max! Do not think it would be a big deal to rechamber to that unless I am really mistaken. That would be a great one

Thanks for the heads up. I would love one in .357 simply because I have a pile of reloading components for that number.
I've shot .357 revolvers a lot over the years but never had a .357 rifle.

357 rechamber to a max sounds extremely desirable.

I’ve done it with several H&R/NEF singles. It takes about 15 minutes and comes out perfect, just using hand tools in the garage.
Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!

Cool. We'll need to see pictures and read your initial impressions.

Good to see they are out there already. I was window shopping on line this weekend and saw the .30-30 in stock at one of the big on line dealers. Forget which one, now....

Very nice, they seem to be putting better wood on a mid-$300 rifle than Ruger is putting on their $1400 rifles. Be sure to let us know how it shoots. Those looks like Burris Zee rings but what base is that? Also, does the hammer extension come with it or is that something you had to buy aftermarket?

The base is a Henry base that I trimmed for my Henry SSR 45-70. That is now an open sight rifle. Grovetec hammer extension is aftermarket. 8.07 lbs as shown. Going to start with Winchester deer season xp. Not sure when I can get it sighted in, as I leave for deer camp tomorrow morning, dark and early......

Thanks for that info. In other news, just checked gunbroker and saw a .357 Magnum version offered, so those should be hitting the mainstream stores pretty soon. Don't need a new .30-30 or .357 except as range toys. The logical mind says go with the .30-30 but a .357 would make an interesting low recoil mid-range (200 yards) steel clanger as well...

I have tried to find the .357 Magnum in TX without success. Hopefully availability will improve soon.

I have the 44 mag/spc....love it, and it loves cast bullets! Only thing I’m not crazy about is the T-shaped hammer spur... I think the Marlin type would be better, and still ambidextrous to the owner.... hmmmmm?

I’m glad that Henry moved in to fill the void left by handi rifles. The prices on the handi rifles went crazy after they stopped production. The henry’s Appear to be as good or better quality and better looking!

and maybe a 223...

So Henry is now shipping their single shot with a T shaped hammer? Could someone post a picture of that, I'd be interested in seeing it. I can't find one on the web, only see ones with the ambidextrous hammer adapter from Carlsons.
