They have been scarce here for about 7 years and they should be coming back any year now. Up in the interior they are back already.

Assuming you're referring to our hares, and not rabbits?

Just got back from a work jaunt in the Delta-Tok region, and the bunny decline has begun(last year must have been the peak). Grouse numbers down as well. Should be a good winter to call fur up that way, as they're going to have to start working for dinner!

I'm with you on cooking snowshoes. Too much of a crap shoot, so when in doubt, pressure cook! They ain't bad for small batches of sausage either. Pressure cook the quarters, and then strip off the meat. Add fat and season to taste, and grind it up; it's not too shabby.

I miss cottontails, as they eat way better, but, we gotta play the hand we're dealt.

I can add a bit more ...I was to get out of HS and ..farm rabbits ...I knew a lot as we had them since i was 5 . I did my bunny work,cages building's raising ,marketing,....i/we had the land to work with/build etc......I can't tell why it didn't happen but it was about the time I / were thinking of ininvesting in ..silver......good God, glad I didn't do it ...

This just came to mine .....raised an petted the chit out of them ...but between me an the dog it was fun as chit wacking them in the wood line ...dad use to get mad at me and my brother for that ....hummm
