I bought some 115 grain partitions and my rifle has a 24in Douglas medium barrel on a Mauser 98 action I think these bullets will work well just some thoughts on powder and other loads you have experienced good luck with?

IMR, or H, 4350....that, when paired with the 257 R, is a match made in heaven.

I’ve had good luck with the 4350s, IMR and H 4831, and RL19.anything in that burning rate range should do well.

I'm shooting 43.5 grn RL19, but with the 115 Ballistic tip, 2.906" COAL. Been very happy with that load for years

Edited to summarize a few good loads.

115 NBT, 44 H-4350. .35" group out of the Brux barrel. That is over book, but book loads are pretty weak. I guess one could call these +P. The Roberts is a cousin to the 6mm Rem and it operates above 60K psi. With good brass, why can't the Roberts do the same. Well, IMO, it can.

JB had reported that the 115 NPT did very well with 45 gr. H-4350. In my gun, the NBT was more accurate than the NPT.

I found an 8# jug of H-4350 at Powder Valley, free shipping, but had to pay the Haz Mat. I had been using 4451, but was glad to find a good supply of H-4350.

The Enduron series is pretty temp stable, but from what I've read, not quite as good as the Extreme, Australian series. And of those, H-4350 is one of the best. Now, I don't hunt sub zero, but do like H-4350. 4451 has the de coppering agent, but with DBC treated barrels, I don't have a fouling problem with H-4350. A soak or two with Patch Out does the trick. No brushes after DBC.

Lot of powders work in the .257, don't over think it. H380 covers a lot of ground but isn't the only player.

If you can get the 115 grain Nosler partition to shoot satisfactory accuracy with H4350 or IMR 4451 it will be a sweet combination.

My favorite load with that bullet was 44 grains H4350 @ 2860 fps. in a 22" bbl. A new batch of H4350 gives me 2875 fps. with same great accuracy.

I've always loaded H4831sc with 115/120gn bullets and H4350 with 100gn. The 115gn Ballistic Tip and H4831 gave 2790fps in a 22" barrel.

Great load. I got it from gunner500. He calls it a "little buzz saw" and he's right. It kills stuff really dead...

Was curious where you came up with that combo.

H4350 was too hard to find so I switched to IMR4451. 100 NBTs over 46 grains was good for 3,000 FPS.

Powder Valley has H-4350, just got 8#'s as posted earlier, post paid.

I also have a can of 4451.

My Ruger 77 MK II does not like Partitions of various weights. Now, the 110gr Nozler AccuBonds are very much to its liking with H4350. The Ruger shoots sodammgood it gets the nod for the Michigan opener Nov 15th.

Just "blind squirrel luck" trying different charges.

H100V is a real performer in that round. The TTSX is very accurate and effective.

Newer powders burn rates and case shapes, much like:

CFE-223 to power 400 gr woodleighs to 2255 fps in an '06 sized case for the 400 Whelen.
CFE-223 to power 400 gr Partitions to 2400 fps in the 416 Taylor.
RL-17 to power 320 gr Wodleighs to 2425 fps in the 9.3x62mm.
RL-10 to power 200 gr TTSX's to an easy 2700 fps with easy to get proper COL's for the stubby 358 Win in a Ruger Hawkeye, not much compression at all.
RL-17 to power 270 gr TSX's to 3100 fps from ol Rube Goldberg the 375 AI.

These new powders are really neat. Way better choices than in the '60's when I started reloading.

These powders can add performance to conventional rounds, the .257R just being one example. Our favorite load is pushing 25-06 performance from the old days. Of course, we can now juice the .25-06 beyond what it was back then.

And the latest generation of bullets are excellent performers. It's a good time to be a shooter/hunter/reloader...
