A friend offered some load info using 25.5gr of H335 and 40gr VMax.

Anyone here using something similar ? What kind of accuracy and velocity are you getting ?

I also have other powders to try for load workup, just wondered how this one performs. Hodgdon's site show it 1.3 gr below max.

I'm guessing its worth a try though I had real issues with temperature sensitivity in H335

H335 will work very well. I use it in 222, 223, 222 mag, 224 WBY with excellent results. Temperature sensitivity is mostly an urban myth. If there was any truth to it, I wouldn’t have 40+ pounds of it and several thousand rounds already loaded with it...

I changed to Accurate 2230. I thought that H335 was a dirty powder. It always shoot very well in my 223`s.

I didn't say in my post but will be mostly used for predators, so temp shouldn't be an issue.

I happen to have a couple boxes of 40gr Vmax, would probably like to use Nosler BT instead.

I'll probably try using another Accurate powder (2460) I've had great success with in 223 and 20 cal rifles.

Anyone have info with velocity for the load in my OP ? I'm curious enough to try with some H 335 I have but if not what I'm looking for I'll start with another powder.

I liked H322 when I was reloading for the 204. Benchmark also worked good. I've used a lot of H335 in 223's, but never in the 204.

If you're skeert of H335, TAC is your alternative.

Did you load book max?

I'm afraid to load H335 too hot and back off about a grain but I'm tempted to reduce that to half a grain.

Or try 28.2 grains of CFE 223.

Good question. I did load max loads and have issues...also loaded middle of the road loads from the books...and had issues...

as OSU says...go with CFE223...great stuff!

Thanks for the info but that doesn't make me feel any better. I guess I'll shoot up the rest of mine and make the switch. I also have some Benchmark that I haven't tried.

Not exactly on topic but some relevancy - H335 is the only powder that I have had pressure problems with in my 223's. All loads were well within the acceptable book range but still had an occassional pressure issue - Yes, I do check the powder depth in all of my cases before seating a bullet.
H335 has something going on with it, whether ambient temperature, chamber temp, I am not sure but when using it I do not chamber one until I am ready to shoot just to be sure that the powder does not have an opportunity to heat soak. But with that said - I have yet to find another powder that gives me the accuracy I get from H335.

H-4895 , 8208 works very well for me with 40gr vmax.

I didn't get great accuracy with H335 and 40s. With 39s/40s, in my last 2 barrels (same action), I've had best luck
with Varget. For me, H335 has worked much much better with 32s from Hornady and Nosler.
