I recently read where a reloader can fill a case with Trail Boss, any case, the the base of a loaded bullet, reduce by 30% (or multiply by .7) and use that as a starting charge. Anyone out there have any experience with this?

GSSP,
I just called my "brother of the heart" & asked him his opinion, as the "originator of The Load" & a person who has forgotten more about loads than most people will ever learn.
He said that EXCEPT for the BIG MAGNUM cases, that 70% of capacity in Trail Boss should be FINE & SAFE in a modern firearm in SOUND condition.

There's another solution. Fill the case, any case, with 2fg BP.
I am..........disturbed.

OK.
I've not seen such data either, but do have experience with Trail Boss. OTOH, one simply cannot put too much BP in a smokeless case.

Anyone out there have any experience with this? follow the load data info on IMR's web site for Trailboss fill case to the base of the seated bullet.......do not compress charge... thats max load.......tweak from there......Trailboss is good stuff for cast boolits especially in lever guns 357..44.....45 Colt
