I’ve been a fan of the 264 Win Mag for many years. I´ve had a number of rifles chambered for this cartridge and worked up loads for them with traditional slow burning powders. I’ve used H-5010, 50BMG, H870, H-1000, the 4831s, RL25, etc. However, I devloped a 6.5 wildcat which I used prefrentially, sold my last 264WM some years ago, and so have not used the newer powders available currently.

I just recently acquired a 26¨SS bbl Win M-70 in 264 WM. Would appreciate information from those shooting this cartridge, about your results, preferably if you’ve chronographed your loads, using newer powders.

I'm not near my reloading books right now but I used WW brass, WLRM primers, 142 gr ABLR and around 75-76 gr RL33 for 3250 and .75" groups. I've taken a couple of axis does, one axis buck, a couple of whitetail does and a 5x5 elk with the combination.

What kind of case life are you getting with that load?

24” or 26”? I always ogled from afar but never bought a 264 Winchester Magnum. If I were to go belted again it would be the 264.

I’m running Retumbo in both of my 264’s. 62.0 grains Retumbo, 140 Accubond , WLR, Winchester brass. FPS? I just borrowed my buddies chrono so I will have FPS shortly. This is my load for my Sendero. One hole five shot group at 100 and 2.3/8 five shot group at 300. My Sako is running 62.0 grains of Retumbo, 140 Partitions, WLR,Winchester brass. Shoots five at 3/4” at 100.
I have dials on both scopes so I’m in the proceed of providing data for the ballistic dial.
I’ve killed several deer and antelope with the Accubond. All dropped dead in their tracks. Shots from 70-408 yards.
I don’t give much attention to FPS with my loads. I want tight grouping.
I did shoot a 5-6 “ group at 600 yards with the Sendero. It will shoot better but I just shot my gong to get the minutes prior to going out to Colorado. It was my first opportunity to shoot 600 yds with this rifle.
Both have 26” barrels.

I had flashes of brilliance with Re-33, but it was terribly inconsistent and generally acted spikey. I'm back to the drawing board, using old school powders like 7828.

I have been using Ramshot Magnum with good results for several years.

120gr TTSXs @ 3380fps
140gr NPTs @ 3130fps

5 shot groups right at MOA for each.

If (when) I experiment with a different bullet, I plan to try IMR 8133 and see what it does.

Mine is a 26" factory Win model 70. As for case life, I've only loaded and shot the brass twice so far. Everything is kind of on hold since July when the company truck caught my garage on fire.

869 and R33 are the velocity champs with 140s according to their data. These are what I would use if I didn't have a stockpile of old dirty H870.

US-869 (Fed 215) and 139 Scenars work very well for me. 77.o gr gave me 3,080 out of a 25" barrel.

Funny thing was that I worked up from 70.o gr and had MOA accuracy all the way up.

That Speer load data is kind of depressing for a 264. I have not chronographed mine yet, but I can remember my Dad's Model 70 reaching 3100 to 3200 fps in the 90's. I don't remember the exact recipe, but I do remember the numbers on that graph. Kind of why I always had to have a 264

My notes said this: 142 gr ABLR, 2.72 COL; 62.0 gr RL-26; ~.50 inches (group size); 3098 fps; ES 11 fps

When I first started working up loads for my 264 I tried 7828 and RL 26. 26 gave decent velocity (around 3000-3050 fps) but never found a node worth pursuing. Same story with the 7828. Tried RL33 and found a good load pretty quick.
