Picked up a Platinum 2018 F150 4x4 Diesel 2 months ago. Got 3500 mile on it and all i can say is WOW!!!!! Highway mpg empty is 27 and city is 23mpg. I've owned Fords for years but this truck is impressive. Super quite for a diesel and plenty of power for only 250HP. Now to see how it the diesel holds up over time. I'll keep ya posted.

Haven't towed heavy yet. Hauled 2 ton of wood pellets behind it and didn't know they were there The new 10 speed transmission is sweet.I shoot Sporting Clays and haul a golf cart everywhere, its runs like its empty..

It' not the pulling capacity, but the stopping that gets a lot of guys in trouble. Check the GCWR

Absolutely.

When I was a cattleman, I always used a one ton dually to pull my Gooseneck cattle trailers. I wanted those duals for stopping, enough rubber on the ground to prevent a jack knife. A 3/4 ton with the same drive train would pull the same, just not stop a loaded rig as well.

I don't think Ford or anyone else is trying to make a 1/2 ton pull, or stop, what a 3/4 or 1 ton will handle. The goal is to pull 1/2 ton loads easier and with better fuel mileage.

I have been waiting for so long for Ford to come out with a 150 diesel that I bought a 3/4 ton GMC so long ago it has 245K mi. on it. It is so long over due and it was the EPA all along getting in the way.

Ive got a 2017 F-150 Platinum FX4 with the 5.0L V8 and 3.73 rear gears. The truck has a 3” lift with 35x11.50x20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. I just towed my 16’x6.5’ dual axle utility trailer with my can am defender on it (I’m guessing around 4000lbs total) from New Orleans to SE Illinois (730 miles one way) and got 9.5MPG on the way up there and 9.2MPG on the way home! I would love to see what that little 3.0L Diesel would do with the same setup and load behind it. I assume better than i got. I think my 14 3.5EB would have done better as well. As of right now if i had to do it all over again i’d definitely go back with the 3.5EB. The low end torque is head and shoulders above the V8. Congrats on your new truck!

Mine did.

Pulling a boat or light trailer, no problem with a half ton or single tire 3/4 ton.

Pulling a 28" Gooseneck full of cows, trailer brakes notwithstanding, I want duals...!

Probably talking about two different situations.

Do not know of anyone that owns one. Local Dealer who is part of a big ford network has 30 of them in stock.
