I guess the fire hasn't been any closer than a mile from my friends place in Malibu. My youngest Son and Family should be good in Lancaster. Ain't nothing but Joshua trees there and desert.

There is a few of them roasting the chit out of this state currently.
Walking outside and knowing your breathing the particulates from smoke that contains the cremated remains of people it puts a different perspective on things.

I sure hope they don't have any fire problems! They won't. There used to be miles if high desert flatlands of grass and Russian thistle AKA tumbleweeds. It's windy up there and it could push that stuff really fast. Most of Lancaster is developed with just a few patches waiting to be developed.

You can't get to Lancaster from Malibu. I tried. It's a lot easier to end up in Lancaster from Malibu, than the other way around!
