Mia Love, the incumbent Republican Representative from Utah District 4, and Ben McAdams, her challenger, have been locked in a struggle that has prevented either being declared the winner.
Today, Mia filed suit against the Salt Lake County Clerk, alleging election irregularities. It seems that official observers were not allowed a mechanism to challenge ballot signatures that did not match. Salt Lake votes predominantly Democrat, and hence favors McAdams. Hmmmmm.....
At the latest count, Mia trailed by about 1200 votes. But Juab county has not been counted yet, and that's 26,000 votes from an area that favors Mia. Those results will be available Friday.
I don't live in the 4th District, but I've had to watch a lot of really nasty commercials the past few weeks. I think Mia has done a good job, but not stellar. OTOH, I've truly come to despise McAdams through his commercials.

Because here in Utah we have to take our shoes off so we can count to 20.  Juab and Sanpete Counties are pretty rural, and I am told that they vote entirely by mail. So we have to wait for the post office. McAdams is in DC at the moment, attending new Congress-critter orientation. Many of us hope he soon becomes disoriented.

We have people voting for their spouse, their missionary that is in another country. or whomever else is in the house. They supposed to verify the signature but how can they be certain on every one of them? They can't. its a mess frankly.

Voting by mail slows returns for several logistical reasons. It's nice that you can check to see whether your vote has been counted, though. I'm in the 3d district, so couldn't vote in the 4th district race. Too bad, because my wife and I both voted straight D. I've met McAdams, he's a solid guy. Mia is a vacuous Republican lacky. Musical theater needs her.
