Hi everyone I have encore barrels in 204 Ruger 223 imp 243 Win 30-30 45 colt Shot 2 deer this year with my 243 and 30-30 encore pistol
Now 264 cal center fires are legal in my state for night hunting, I am looking to get a new mgm pistol barrel built. What 264 cal would you seasoned shooters recommend for whitetail deer and coyote. Deer would be 300 yds and less. Looking for equal to or less recoil than ny 30-30 pistol thanks for any advice.

If it was me I would look for a factory 15" TC New Hampshire barrel in 260 Rem. All my 15" factory barrels shoot exceptionally well and I do have a few Bullberry's to compare. One year a gentleman shooting a 15" Bullberry 260 took first place at 1000 yds at the MOA match in Sundance WY. Bullberry used to have pics of him accepting the trophy on their website.

I never have spotted a 260 factory barrel for sale. Was leaning towards the creedmore but after hours of reading the Grendel sure is pumping out some good numbers.

EABCO will sell you a barrel for their 6.5 BRM, and SSK, IIRC will do up a JDJ, but the Grendel seems easiest to me, and loading dies and brass are comparatively cheap. If you go Grendel, I can hook you up with some dies and brass as well, since I sold my 527. It'll keep me from buying another one!😱

.260 would be recommendation too. Light on recoil and big on performance. They stopped (most of) us down here from hunting deer at night!!!

My first Encore pistol barrel was a factory 15" 260. Had a 24" factory barrel as well. Never should've sold either one, both good shooters.

In 6.5 caliber, I'd agree with others on the .260. That's been my favorite rifle barrel for my Encore for deer. Since you already have a .243 rifle barrel, I'd also consider a 15" .243 barrel. I haven't shot mine to 300 yds. but I can tell you it's very accurate off the bench to 200 yd. and easy to shoot.
