We have open Carry here in Wyoming. The number of mouth breathing, neck bearded fools you see carrying a high point in the waistband of their sweatpants is astounding. Blissfully unaware of how easy they’d be to disarm and pistol whip the diabeedus right out of. Yep, We have the same mouth breathing open carry, attention seeking clowns here too. They seem to be looking for an opportunity to over-react. There was the jackwagon old fart I saw not too long ago who had some sort of Springfield XD POS in an uncle mike sausage sack holster strutting around in Walmart about 3 months ago. He was wearing a shirt that said (I am not kidding) " If I am here, it is not a Gun Free zone" I thought to myself, if I was a criminal, I would walk up behind him and either bash him brains in or just cut his throat and have a cheap, free gun. The guys was clueless as far as situational awareness goes, but he sure wanted everyone to see he was armed and a tough guy. While I support the right, I don't support the practice.

I saw an old guy carrying a single action revolver cocked in his leather cowboy holster at our local Piggly Wiggly. I just got away from him as fast as possible. LOL, the primal diet thread and this post reminded me about a situation I had, the primal thread on about how important it is for us aging men to keep leg and core strength, the old armed man in a store part came from me seeing an elderly guy just start listing to his right as I met him coming into a store as I was leaving. I noticed it looked like his right leg and ankle area just quite working for him, or got weak or something, he threw his right arm out in the air like there was a wall there or some kind of support, I dropped my bag of sandwiches and cope, ran up and hipped the old guy on his right side with my left, and wrapped my left arm around his ribcage and back to hold him steady for a sec or two, and Yup, you guessed it, he had some sort of pistol strapped to his right side. I have to wonder how/if he could use the damn thing without hurting himself or an innocent, I held him there till he regained his bearings, he thanked me and said, "damn son, you're fast" Other than an armed escort, what other option would a man in that condition really have, other than some sort of gun? He sure as heck couldn't handle one on one with a thief or assailant. Absolutely no other option neighbor, we ALL grow closer to that very same scenario everyday for ourselves, I think it's gonna suck too.

I remember an action plan you wrote a few years back, if you were going to knock off the local Reilly Auto Parts Store. Seems I remember you would enter the store, shoot Bubba open carry in the head to neutralize him and set the tone for the rest of the operation. In a serious conflab open carry dudes could be targets of opportunity. And an easy source of a loaded weapon. I like the freedom of open carry, would never do so myself for tactical reasons. And for sure not in a SE OK Reilly Auto Parts Store...🙀 The old dude said you were quick....? 😎 DF LOL, yes DF, when I walked into that store and saw bubba slumped over the sales counter ON both elbows with the big six shooter proudly worn open for all too see, I thought ho lee chit, were I a criminal, bucket head would get the first one right behind the ear. , the old man called my white bearded old ass son, if that tells you how old he may have been, he said I was quick as a cat on my feet, probably just looked that way to him because I jumped about 5 feet towards him to catch him before he tipped over ; ]

Probably more like me in that I support the right, just wish idiots didn't practice it. We had a shooting in a local mall in Birmingham. Bad guy got away, but a cop killed an idiot civilian running with his gun drawn at the scene. There was even reports of armed civilians shooting into the air after the initial shooting.Don't know if that has been substantiated or not. It was a mess.

Boomer, the scariest thing about driving to Salt Lake tonight will be this Scottish weather. You could get kilt. That's IF he doesn't have to drive I-15. Now THAT'S scary!! Indeed! Thankfully it stayed at 34F with that heavy of precip and traffic that was a plenty. Headed further south in a few...

Yep, more evidence that only trained LEO's and military should possess firearms. The rest of us are bumbling idiots who shoot ourselves in grocery stores. I can't believe no charges have been filed! You probably already know this, but cops tend to shoot themselves quite often, too. And, I've been amazed at how many LEO's, professionals so to speak, can't shoot that well. Back in my cowboy action days, we would occasionally have "cops and cowboys" events to raise money for charity. I've seen seasoned LEO's drop clips, fumble with weapons, shoot bad enough to embarrasse me, must less them. There was one deputy sheriff, however, who was an artist with a 1911. I enjoyed watching him shoot. He was a stand out, The rest of that bunch was pretty worthless, IMO. Cowboys beat'em bad. If I was going to be a professional LEO, maybe I wouldn't be the best, but I'd for sure beat the heck out of the pack I saw trying to shoot. In a bind, I'd rather have one of our cowboy action guys or that 1911 deputy in my corner. Not sure how well protected I've be with some of those wannabe marksmen. DF

Most folks on here will disagree, but most folks carrying concealed would be far better off with a DA revolver. Its been like 20 years so I forget if the NY trigger springs on my G19 is the 8lb or the 12lb set-up, pretty sure its the 12pound.. 'spect I could still manage to shoot myself after I dropped it accidentally in the grocery store, but not quite as easy. I had the 8lb trigger on a G29 I had. I don't recall ever meeting anyone who likes that setup, but they do at least give that staple gun stock trigger a much cleaner break. I figure in a gravest extreme scenario I wouldn't notice the extra pounds on that trigger at all, but it might make unintentional shots fired a bit less likely.
