What a shame!

That leaves the market wide open for Barrett! Please!!! I hope they are listening!

Got tired of waiting on Barrett so I did just pick up a Montana 223 last week. Hoping the 9 twist shoots the 62 ttsx? A Fieldcraft will be on order the second I hear they are shipping.

Agreed! If Barrett drops a "micro action" in .223, 6.5 Grendel, etc I will likely own a few more Barretts which can only be a good thing.

The FC is already light, why re-tool for a Chipmunk when the existing platform works great?

I bought a KM .223 a number of years ago, since I enjoyed shooting my KM .308 so much.....much cheaper to reload for, and easier on the shoulder, but is the same platform. I have shot thousands of rounds through it, and it still easily shoots under an inch. Actually just bought a box of 50 Hornady 55 grain vmax for the brass and printed a group of three not much larger than 3/8". Shot coyote, fox, otter, ptarmigan, handful of caribou, etc.....

The Kimber Montana is King in the ergonomics game. They just feel right....

I figure a guy could find one if he looked hard enough. I could one from here that doesn't shoot. smile

Why would they drop them from the line?

Kimber isn't known for brilliant rifle decisions, but I really don't know the reason.

The 22-250 and 204 was dropped also.

Only available in the various varmint or heavy barrel offerings. Very disappointing. No 6mm CM either.

Who makes a new model called the "Open Country" and only chambers it in 6.5 CM or 308? The name and configuration begs for the 243, 257R, 25-06, 270, 280AI, 7mmRM, 7WSM, 300WM, 300WSM, 6.5PRC etc.

Oh to be the Kimber manager of product development.

If we could use them for deer in VA I would have one. Wound up with a Montana in .260 instead. Spent a few dollars finding what bullets that one liked.

Va deer have thicker skin. IIRC .223 is legal in WV, MD, NC, TN, and KY....

Hint....................

Doubt I'll be Moosin' or chasing Elks with my Montucky .223, but what would those folks be using for a bullet?

In OEM spouts, the Hornie 75 BTHP shines in all atmospheres,as do the 62TSX(best .224" X-er going). In rebarreled 223/223AI Customs...the 75'Max/ELD are the mainstays, though the 88 ELD is coming along strong.

Same goes Bears.
