Fella's......Have the CRS (can't remember sh*) disease bad so please help me?lol Did Thompson Center ever make any small caliber chamberings for the '83/87 rifles other than .223? How about Bull Berry or Virgin Valley? Is there still a T/C Custom Shop or somewhere a guy could find preferably a Bee or 2nd choice a Hornet barrel? Any help or information sure appreciated. Thanks.

Dennis

Factory barrels were chambered in .22 Hornet and .22-250. The TC Custom shop is long gone and SSK no longer makes TCR barrels because there are no more monoblocks available.

Thanks, was pretty sure they made a Hornet, at least for a few years. Guess it will give me 'a purpose' in life, that being trying to find an aftermarket used one.lol

The standard 22 caliber factory barrel list included 22 Hornet, 222 Rem., 223, 22-250 and 220 Swift.

The Custom shop added a few more (i.e. 218 Bee and 221FB plus others). The TC custom shop has been gone for many years, and the TCR disappeared long before that after they had their fire.

The aftermarket makers you mention would do just about anything you wanted, depending in how much you wanted to spend.

Thank You sir for the information. Will do some checking around. Wanted an '83 since they were introduced and an article on them in one of the shooting rags. Probably one of them 'be carefull what you wish for' experiences.lol

Pops got one in .22 hornet w a decent amount of figure in the stock.
He also got a .223 bbl later.

Scoping them is funky, the base isn't ideal.

Worse is the safety.

I always thought the TCR was among the nicest single shot rifles of the day. They were trim, well balanced and lovely to look at but the safety, as hookeye said, was not a hunter's friend.

Pops' has a single trigger.

Hi Dennis, or SDWhirlwind.
I have a TCR 83 Aristocrat listed in the classifieds but it has not been pulled up recently so it is a few days deep in the listing. Anyway it has 2 barrels that are in like new condition. One in 30-06 and one in 22-250. I have one Thompson Center scope base still new in the package and each barrel has their iron sights. The stock has a few dings here and there but I believe the rifle has been a safe queen for most of its life.
Let me know if your interested and I can send some pics.
Thanks, Les

tankerjockey, go to your post in the classifieds and type. the word "bump". That'll put it back on the front page.

Never mind. It's on the front page now...
