Gents, didn't get much help over on Marlinowners, hoping you can help. #535 of 1000.

Been thinking about parting with my 2000 1895 LTD IV 45/70. I bought it new, it is in excellent condition except for one ding on the stock. Have the box and paper work, Marlin supplied cable lock, etc. Maybe 75-80 rounds through it. She's a thumper with the hard but plate!

Can't find any completed auctions or recent values anywhere. Looking for a fair valuation, I know Marlin prices are all over the place but I need a starting point!

Thanks.

Yes sir Tikanut, that is correct. I pulled it out tonight and was cleaning it. The but stock has a few more safe dings and handling marks than I thought. Two minor scratches where I removed the rear sight back in my younger days before I knew better. I’d say a solid 90-92% gun conservatively.

I’ll post a pic if I can figure out how to on this iPad.

Probably not what you want to hearr but roughly book value of the similar rifle in similar condition. Most commeratives, special runs or what ever, replicate the base rifle once shot, hunted or used. That being said, their is someone out there looking for one or will see it and like it enough to pay a premium for it.

I mostly deal with stainless Marlins but would guess $800-1000 depending on condition. There is/was one on gun broker in better shape for $1200 but it hasn't sold yet.

Gentlemen, I appreciate the candid responses. Without comparable examples it is sometimes easy to inflate the value. At least it has appreciated in value...at this time anyway.

It's so much fun to shoot with cast that I'm not going to part with it at this time anyway. Just something about slinging large chunks of lead that is satisfying, especially when you can hear the thwack down range!

Good choice, I would keep it too. Life is short, enjoy it while you can.

Keep moving forward!
