I like to make a breakfast scramble. Saute up onions, bellpeppers, mushrooms and chorizo or breakfast sausage. Put on a plate. Scramble 18 eggs. When the eggs are done mix in vegis and sausage. Put in a caserole dish and top with a healthy portion of grated cheese.

I've never brought leftovers home.

We will bring cabbage rolls!

i love cabbage rolls. i make about 10 dozen at a clip and freeze them. even easier though is to use all the same ingredients and make it like a lasagna. cabbage, meat, soup, cabbage, meat, soup and so on. tastes just like halupki but a lot less effort.

Where do you find cabbages that actually have loose leaves?

Core the heads, and steam them.
The leaves peel off without breaking.

Sounds good - will it even work with those tight little cannonballs that we get for cabbages around here?

It should.
We try to buy big heads.

Just asked the head cook.
She said sometimes the leaves on those are interwoven and hard to get apart.

Try it. If it doesn't work,

Chop it up,
Soften some chopped onions in butter and a little olive oil,
Add the cabbage, get it to start to carmelize a bit, add cooked haluski noodles.
Salt, pepper till your happy. Some add caraway.

If you already make haluski, sorry.

Funny how this keep happening.

Haluski, and if you aren't a too dang tight,
Cook some kielbasa and add it.

Or make it as a casserole

My wife brought home a nice head of cabbage we made Coleslaw for Thanksgiving, to go with the brisket. Loose, and green.

so heres a little trick. i buy the biggest cabbages i can find in the fall. the IGA near my camp has huge ones for a buck each. you might need to hit a farmers market and pay a premium though. i then take the cabbages and wrap them in freezer paper and stick them in the freezer for at least several weeks and up to 6 months. then take them out and put them in a pot of water and heat them until almost boiling. shut it down and just let it sit. the leaves peel themselves. the outside ones are usually no good but the others peel real easy.
