Fieldgrade,
Many thanks for that article. That explains convex sharpening very well.

What also works very well for a strop is to use a plane cardboard box. You can use this with or with out sharpening compound.

I've done just that....works good on a convex grind,

I use the slack belt on my tabletop sander for my axes but I don't have the nerve to try it on one of my knives.

I am afraid to use power equipment. To old and just don't have the skill.

Its because you're wise...

You only need to remove a thousandth of steel or so... not .03 like most people do with their machine sharpeners.

My FIL has many knives that are thin and sees he has worn them out from hard use cutting up game...

hes just over sharpened them and I hold my tongue

Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

Worst case scenario, just drop Mike Stewart an e-mail or message him on FB. He’ll have the guys in the shop sharpen it up for you.

actually a few times that I had to call Bark River, Mike himself answered the dang phone, and talked my ear off. What a nice guy.

How come nobody told the 24hr Campfire's resident Bobcat hunter about these?

I just went to KSF's web site and looked at em and I like what I see....a lot.

Even though my Bobcat hunting days are coming to a close I still gotta have one.

I'll have to wait until after the holidays though.
