Part 1 of this elk hunt is now live. It is a November rifle elk hunt in Wyoming. My son had the tag. It was our annual hunt where he and I block out one week per year for hunting together. We stick to that no matter what, making it part of our calendar so that other life events don't get in our way. Some of you know the feeling of your kids growing to be independent adults and moving off to build lives of their own; you don't get to hunt every week like when they were living at home. (Note to self - some friends whose adult kids are still living at home say I should give thanks .)
My uncle Larry was supposed to join us with his tag, but due to his chemo complications, the docs wouldn't release him for this hunt. Wyoming has a cool rule that if you miss a hunt due to health issues, you can apply to reserve the tag for the following season. I hope the License Review Board grants that request and that Larry's health allows him to hunt elk next season.
Not sure why these bulls were down near their winter ranges with as little snow as was up high, but it goes to show what areas elk prefer if not for intense hunting pressure. We were joined by a Wyoming friend and guy some of you know, BuzzH. Was a great time and Buzz's experience in this unit was a big help.

Randy, Thanks for sharing another great little video. Not sure where you were at, but pretty incredible number of elk seen.....in one day. Matthew showed extreme patience, I’d probably tried on the 8x7. Well, maybe not....I’d probably taken one before seeing the 8x7! Awesome video....keep’m coming! memtb

That was fun, thanks Randy. I was left with the distinct impression that Matthew didn't want his hunt to end quickly.
That is correct. He only gets to hunt one week per season, so he is always milking these hunts. And, he knows it drives his old many crazy when he passes and passes and .......

Looks like you're off to another great adventure with your son. I'm glad for you, you get to spend this time with your son. I know how I like spending time with mine. Wishing you the best.
Great vid, I am figuring out where that area is, I have never seen that many bulls in a single day other than Jackson. Your son likes to mess w/ you like mine do.

Looks like you guys had a good day. Those darn pack out trip, are so rewarding. Again, thanks for sharing your hunting trips with us. Take care & God bless.
Randy can you give us some info on the packout? Looked like parked and walked in to glass, found the bull, back to the truck then in further for the shot. How far in where you?
