Made this from fence post cut-offs and and old liquid feed tub.

Cut the tub off with my chainsaw. Nailed the posts together for the base with 60d nails, then attached the bottom of the cutoff tub.

Drilled holes in bottom of tub so it won't hold rainwater.

Better than just throwing the salt block on the ground. wink

Made these out of old tires before, but didn't have any handy.

Are you going to stake them down Barry?

I don't think so, Richard.

Not had trouble with cows tipping the tire tubs over before.

Now when I feed those liquid feed tubs, they lick those all over the pasture. I find them everywhere. wink

At least it'll keep the salt block off the soggy ground here.

You can tell it's a tad wet lately... wink

That looks like a trace mineral block?

Barry, that should work, looks nice!

We buy the protein lick in the 250lb metal tubs and I safe a few empties for mineral tubs.

Generally just leave the salt blocks on the ground but I might have to make a couple salt block holders for the feedlot pens.

Got a couple smaller empty horse lick tubs that should work.

Salt with trace minerals.

Thanks Sam.

I was tired of having the salt block disintegrate into the soggy ground... wink

Looks good,

I have a few similar block feeders. A tub from a sixty pound crystalyx will fit pretty snug in a worn out tire from our skid steer.

Or I just throw them in the used metal barrel from the 250 pounders.
