in the late 1960's, I shot NRA bullseye and fired abut 50,000 rounds a year pistol and probably 3,000 rifle. Today, I load 5,000 38 Special, 357 Magnum, 45 ACP and 44 Magnum (each) during the winter, shoot until they are gone and start the process all over again. Same for rifle.

This is the way I roll. The lead is bothersome until a few XTPs fly down the tube. Then it is forever laminated to the sidewalls...hello accuracy.

I don't even know my average amount per year. If I were not so lazy I could look in my loading log. I load my Prairie Dog ammo 1000 at a time. I load my hunting ammo 100 at a time. This gives me enough to sight in with, hunt with and to show off at the deer club range! In my pistols, 9mm, 38 special, 357, 44 magnum and 45 auto I have what I call my working stock. These are loaded with a favorite proven cast bullet load and stored in bulk. The numbers range from 2500 to 5500 for each caliber. I'll shoot them until they are all used up, then I'll start tumbling brass and casting bullets until I load again. I'll load 41 Magnum, 44 special and 45 Colt in lots between 100 and 500. My working stock will last between a year and a few years. I'm casting for 44 magnum and 45 auto right now.

between handgun, shotgun, and rifle, I shoot very little anymore....maybe a thousand rounds per year....mostly skeet but try to keep the rifles ready for deer and elk season....there's always a new bullet that needs to be tried out.....and ballistic products seems to find a way to get me to make more steel shotshells.....Christmas bought me a VZ-24 in 8X57 that will need some loads worked up with ttsx bullets.....there's always something that needs to be tried out.....anyone have a good idea for a truck gun?

I probably shoot more pistol and revolver loads a year than rifle.I go through a 50 round box every day weather permits.I did not get a chance to PD hunt this past year so maybe only shot about 500 rifle rounds.

For the handguns I shoot the least, I usually only shoot a couple cases a year that I buy as most of my time spent is reloading the Varmint cartridges that I load for when I shoot groups with Mule Deer...

prior to 2018, probably 3-5k.
5.7 to 45-70 with the most being .223 and 45 acp.
2018 probably 250 rounds loaded due to health. sucks

I keep track of how much I reload by saving the cardboard sleeve from primers. I just counted 119 sleeves. I did not shoot them all yet however. Most of them are for pistol calibers this year. I aquired several 9mm pistols this year and had to stock up for them as they are mighty fun to plink with.

a good summer in the p/dog fields......with five dedicated p/dog rigs

easily 4-5K rds........summer of '18 was very bad...very hot dry.......plague

Recent purchase of two new H&K 40 S&W semi pistols...I'll be loading lots of 40's....

If you'd count 22LR...probably shot 3500+ rds in the past 90 days....22 ammo is cheap !

I shot less than 50 rounds of rifle ammo this year and about the same last year..... I just check zero. I have adequate loads worked up for all my rifles with more than enough loaded ammo. My shooting time is being spent with a shotgun and clays these days.

Shoo.....only about 800 rounds this year, and only one shot for real, at a skunk 85 yards off the back balcony. Embarrassing.

Dang! How can you guys afford to shoot thousand of rifle rounds in several different cartridges?!!! Even cup&core lead bullets are around $25/100.

For my 223rem, I could probably afford to shoot 1,000's of rounds/year only with hornady 55gs sp w/c bulk bullets.

Don't know how I'd do it shooting my 308win.

To answer original post, I shoot mostly handguns. I've switched almost exclusively to 9mm as it's cheaper than my 45acp. I shoot around 1,000-3,000 year.
