M1,
None of my 358 handloads using 10X have exceeded 58,000 in either a savage 99 or a blr using an oehler to check chamber pressure. I'm not sure on the quickload stuff though or how you settled on mr-2000, but 2200 fps with a 200 grain bullet will be all you'll see from a full case of the stuff, as opposed to 2700 fps with other powders. I use my 10x handloads down to 20 below zero on caribou and have good luck. I also use unique powder in my handgun loads when running my dog team in this weather. When I find powders that work well in my below zero runs with the dog team, I stick with em. I'm sure you'll find something that works for you.

Steelhead,
Maine smart : Geeze they used to pull us kids out of school to pick potatoes in the 80's. Called it agricultural leave, up to 2 weeks. Not too smart, aye?

No, Maine's voting record and pot smoking is the envy of the free world.

Lots of good info, Mainer.
I have also messed around with the barrel channel to barrel fit, I replaced the factory blob of epoxy pressure point with a more exacting one and sealed the remainder of the channel with a thin coat of epoxy to waterproof it.
This is on the takedown model.Because or has a 2 piece stock I found a scout scope holds poi better with added advantage of that it can be bore sighted.
I use scout scopes on the other takedown BLR also and I am completely familiar with them now.
I am a big guy with long arms but the scout scope allowed me to shorten the length of pull about 3/4". I shortened the barrel to 19" and the rifle is no longer than my m94. It is very handy and my principle sheep rifle. I am very happy with it

Sadly I recently was informed by Browning that they've discontinued the 358win in their BLR lone of rifles as they haven't gotten enough orders or demand. I've been looking for a takedown version but I'm been out of luck.

They are good rigs. I've since moved on to a short action Ruger 77 carbine as a winter scabbard gun on the dog sled.

The conditions and climate is simply too harsh for a complicated rifle that can't be disassembled in the field.

I now have a 358 Winchester in a BLR but not a takedown. Guess I am still looking for a takedown in a 308 based case. 243,308, either one will be rebored to 358 Winchester for a deeluxe takedown. I have some low powered Denver Redfields and some Scout scopes. Have to get the gun and the rebore first. Thanks for all the info here. I hope all is still going well Mainer. Be Well, RZ.
