How low can you mount on this rifle? Seems I have heard the bolt needs alot of clearance.

Depending on the objective size, you'll probably have to stick with either the high rings or extra high. I have one and had to use the high rings that come with the gun, but I never did like the cheek weld it gave me. I purchased a comb raising kit from Bear Tooth products that fixed the cheek weld issue for me.

CZ makes, or used to make, a replacement bolt that had a different angle to allow for lower scope mounting. However, I've tried to order it and it's never in stock on their website.

Thanks, hard to imagine why they have not figured out how to get the bolt to clear lower like most major mfg. - and make the change.

Cheek weld is very key as you know.

From what I've seen and read medium Warne rings will work with the 527s standard curved bolt on Leupolds 33 & 40 mm objective ring scopes and are about as low as you can get without getting a modified bolt handle. I asked about this here in Oct this year and got some good info. Field Grade sent some good photos of scopes mounted on his 527s. There's also plenty of info re this on the CZ Centerfire Rifle site.

I went thru all that. Ended up with the new low bolt handle, this picatinnny rail and low Weaver rings. Good cheek weld, lowest possible mount.

I’m using Warne medium QD rings with a Leupold 2-7x28 . Could easily run a 33 or probably a 40 mm objective . The issue will always be the ocular .
The newer 527s come with the updated bolt for better clearance .
Then there’s always Calhoon parts

I'm using leupold rings on my 527, I can't recall if they were high or medium but I'm leaning toward high. No clearance issues with a bushnell elite 4-12.

The CZ part is cheaper than going with James Calhoon. I've talked to him, he knows his stuff.

CZ, at least when I did my project, was the least expensive option. It's easy to swap bolt handles.

I'd go with James Calhoon if the CZ part was hard to find.

Measure from top of action to bottom of scope, or at least get that measurement from James.

I like the picatinny rail posted earlier as it allows wider spacing of the rings. With a very short action, mounting certain scopes can become an issue.

Here's a link to my project which is now a K-Hornet.

I used tikka rings on my 527. huge difference between the CZ rings.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Just checked CZ's website. Looks like the bolt handle is in stock right now for $35. I'm going to try and order one for my 17 Hornet...

IIRC, James' price is around $60, but it's been a while since I checked. If you can get the CZ, that's the way to go.

Yeah, CZ way too high for my taste. The DIP rail with low Weavers are lower than Tikka rings, in fact the lowest possible mount from what I was able to learn. They're low enough that they won't work without the lower American CZ bolt handle. And even then clearance is minimal.
