Anyone worked up loads with this combo?

Would somebody be kind enough to work up a quick load for me with a 26 inch barrel?

When I was shooting a 300 B' I used a lot of IMR-7828 powder. It worked well for me.
That was before we had any RL-26.

7828, back in the day when I shot the 300wby. Great powder for that cartridge.. Mine always liked a stuffed case too... About 82.5 grains and you'd hear the powder crunching as you seat the bullet... The same thing with 84 grains and a 180gr. partition.. That was a smoking fast load. Sounded like a bowling ball being launched at mach 1..

Nope, but you can easily get 3150 fps with 26"s of barrel and Retumbo.

I think Speer lists 200gr for the B with RL 26.

I've tried all those powders with the 200 partition but couldn't get any degree of accuracy.

Thanks Dennis, unfortunately Speer lists the 300 Weatherby with the 200 grain at 2950 feet per second.

I have no desire to turn my 300 Weatherby into a 300 Win Mag.

I know you've heard this before and probably don't want to hear it again, but if you can't get a 300wby to shoot accurately with IMR7828 and a good 180 or 200 gr. pill, something is wrong with the rifle, not the powder. I know you are generally a model 70 man, care to share a little about the rifle in question? Is it properly glass bedded? Freefloated? Using a good "proven" optic? I remember one of the first Leupolds I broke was on top of my M1917 sporterized 300wby. They are hard on scopes. If you are not getting good accuracy with any powder, you may want to start looking at the mechanics of the rifle.

Fortunately this particular rifle is extremely accurate with RL25 and the 180 grain TSX.

If it shoots that bullet well, what more do you need? I'll admit, I'm not a TSX user, but damn they have a great reputation. I'll bet in a wby you are running right around 3,200+ fps. Like WVZ said in one of his articles, back in the late 90's, regarding the big 300, "it shoots like a laser beam and hits like a runaway garbage truck"....or something along those lines... Your rifle may have a linda lovelace throat and it just doesn't like partitions. However, I find it odd that you are having problems getting that fine 200gr bullet to shoot well. That bullet is never finicky for me. I was at the range a few days ago and proved that point with a new 30-06 that I just put together. That barrel is old and worn out too, but still shoots sub moa for 3 shots..

BSA, I don't "need" anything else, just like to shoot and tinker.

7828 would not shoot the 200NP sub moa, thought I'd give the magic fairy dust a go.

Hodgdon lists the 180 NP with 84.7 gr RL26, I will probably begin at 80.0 and work up.

7828 is tough to beat. I’d expect similar charges of 26 will do the same for you. Good luck.

See, Scotty gets it. Thats how id be running them too. The 300wby is one that likes stiff charges of 7828. Im betting scotty is used to the sound of powder crunching under that bullet as hes seating them. Unless ssc is that much different than the long cut version. Im still suspecting a rifle problem with the ops rifle. Did ny ever answer my questions about what kind of rifle it is and hows its bedded? Specifics man. Who did the bedding and hows the trigger, using proven scope and solid mounts? All that chit matters.

I’m using the SSC version and don’t remember it crunching too awfully much with my load. It may be a bit more crunchy at 3.6 to fit through a 70’s Mag box though.
