I'd never live close enough to a neighbor or within a density of neighbor(s) to have to concern myself with what their dog(s) we're doing.
If a neighbor shot my dog without good reason (that doesn't include simply walking through his property) he'd get nauseous the next time he saw a dog, remembering the ass kicking he took. I've taught my children from an early age that we only take a life for a good reason, be that sustenance or for protection of property or life, with the exception of nuiscance or predation.

Think I would leave the dog alone but maybe "accidentally" smack the neighbor up alongside the head. A little old lady? Naw, the slingshot will do the job just fine, and can deliver a lesson or aces and eights as the situation requires. No need to get ticketed for discharge of a firearm within city limits. Actually....my slingshot penetrates.

The neighbors around the block allow their old, blind, deaf pooping bastard to roam free and poop everywhere.
He loves to wander by and piss on the mailbox post. Old white mouth lab cross sonuvabitch.
I'm not usually home to catch him in the act but he'll walk up the driveway and whiz on the flowers.
According to my wife(who wouldn't hurt a flea)....
Once or twice I have snuck out on the front deck and douched his dirty ass with a bucket of cold water. It's hilarious.

I would put up a fence. If you shoot the dog the owner could be like me or have a son or relative like me. So if you shoot the dog you better shoot the owner and witnesses too, to not do that could be your last mistake.

Our neighbor about a half mile away had an old arthritic chocolate lab. He would hobble down the road every day to visit us and take a big ol' dump in our yard.
I didn't like it, but I couldn't find it in myself to punish him. He was such a determined old soldier. Something about him I admired.
