Does anyone have any reviews of the Weaver tactical 3-15, either model 800362 or 800363 (looks the same but different reticle and illuminated.)

Yesterday I missed the illuminated one for $375 with Vortex rings because while I was Googling reviews someone else jumped on it! I briefly looked through the 800362 a few years ago but don't remember much about it.

I just sold a LRHS 4.5-18, and I miss it already. I was thinking that since this would be for playing and gophers I could save some money by replacing it with this IF it a solid scope even though it obviously doesn't have all the features of the Bushnell..

I could get the 800362 new for $465 shipped right now, or just wait and watch the classifieds.

Thanks

I was contemplating one a while back, and buddy ended up picking one up and put on an AR10 (3.5yrs ago). He still loves it!

That weaver is a solid entry level scope assuming they are still as robust as they were 8-10 years ago.

Where is it made? My experience is that the Japanese made Weavers were pretty solid for casual target shooting. I would buy one at a good deal. I couldn't say about the Philippines made ones.

I read an online review that said Light Optic Works in Japan.

The review also said that 800363 has more adjustment than the 362 and to also stay with the 363 not just for the adjustment range but because the FFp reticle is unusable on low power due to being too fine without illumination. The review also said the locking turrets need wiggled a little to re-seat. Hmm...

I would jump on one at a good price,if I needed a scope for casual targets.

I checked, that is sold.

I'm going to wait for some more reviews, and then look for a deal on a used illuminated one if they are good.

They were solid scopes ten years ago. Now, they really dont offer anything to set them apart, and alack of lot that makes them attractive.

We have a couple of the 800363 model. They’ve been excellent scopes. Durable and repeatable even when used on a truck gun or for NRL or PRS matches. The locking turrets make them excellent for hunting. The view is bright and has a bit more ‘pop’ than the SWFA 3-15. The Weaver adjustments are also dramatically easier and more precise to operate than the SWFA, yet they _always_ stay put because they lock. On the down-side, there is chromatic aberration in the Weaver. My observation is that CA is a thing most shooters don’t see or notice, but I always have. It’s still a very good and usable scope, but SWFA has that under control whereas Weaver does not.

We’re very happy with the Weaver 800363. I wouldn’t bother with any of the others in that line, because either the adjustment range isn’t there, or there’s a turret-reticle mismatch, or things like that.

The 800363 is an LOW product.

I’ve had Natchezss ship me Weaver scopes before that were supposedly the same model as available everywhere else, but which lacked certain features of that model. I cannot comment on that concerning the 800363s they offer presently, but it’s something to keep in mind.

I have two of the Weaver Tactical 3-15x50s ...... Both made in Japan and purchased last summer ....I really like these scopes... and prefer them over the Bushnell LRHSi....The clicks are firmer more positive on the Weaver than the Bushnell and I like the locking turrets....I actually could not tell much if any difference in the Glass between the LRHSi and the Weaver..........
The Weaver tracks true and I made First round hits at 750 and 900 yrds....

This is the OP.
I was waiting to see if Form or MD had used these, but it sounds like enough people here have had good experiences with the 363 that I just ordered one. (Used for $410).

Thanks again for the information.

I would be happy to provide a review on the scope, but I won't be able to make it to the range till at least the 24th or 25th.

On what do you base that assertion? Speculation? I am open to the fact that there may be some common news of which I am unaware.

The owner of SWFA reported that Weaver was not on his list of products provided by Vista Outdoors for 2019. That's all I know about the Weaver subject.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
