What height rings would you recommend to clear the fixed sights (front sight is shrouded) on my circa 1975 336? It currently has see-through scope mounts, which I’d like to get rid of. I’d probably never use a scope with a front eyepiece larger than 42 mm. I could remove the fixed sights, I suppose, but I’d like to leave them in place if possible.

Thanks!

I have Talley extra low on a Glenfield model 30 with a VX3 1.5X5 and also a 336=A with a 2X-7X in Talley extra lows with no touching the rear sight issues. If your sope is 40 MM or larger you might be well served with med height rings. The Talley rings kept the weight off the 336 rifles as compared to another scope base/ring options.

Leupold lows on a leupold or redfield base will sit the scope low and clear everything.
