Can you fire people shed some light on this rifle? I think it is a circa 2003 I would love some first hand experience if not then opinion will help.

I have one but it is the early lightning model . I bought new in 1996/97.I have done some work to it. cut the barrel to 19in , put an 11.5 degree inverted crown on her and took 3/4 of an inch off the butt stock. I can get 1/2in groups at 100 yds off rest all day long. its one of a few of the blrs in the gunroom. have killed a lot of critters over the yrs with that one.its my #1 go to gun ! I said it in another thread I am a big fan of these rifles.

I played around with multiple BLRs in both long action and short. The short actions seem to balance and look better so I went with a 308. I have not developed loads for it yet but factory Rem Core Lokts are shooting right around an inch. The only issue I can see with the gun is the trigger. It's about as smooth as dragging a cinder block down a cobblestone road.

one of my close hunting partners for 3 decades carried almost nothing but a pre 1981 BLR in caliber 358 win, he was quite successful,
enough so that I purchased a post 1981 BLR, in caliber 358 win and later one in caliber 450 marlin,
both are very dependable hunting rifles, that Id carry with zero reservations,
as both consistently are fully able to shoot 1.5" 100 yard three shot groups off the bench rest.
and yes the function and triggers improve as they get a bit of wear and you become more familiar with their use.

The BLR design is quite strong. Its actually a rotating bolt action operated by a lever. You can't go wrong with this rifle.
