Does anyone know or has anyone shot different colored sabots? I have a load developed using the red sabot on the hornady 250 grain flex tip bullets. I ran into my local shop as I was down to 4 bullets and they only had the black sabots on hand. the black ones are a tad longer and 2 grains heavier, but diameters and thickness seemed to be the same. Just a longer pedal so more of the bullet is covered up. I would like to know if they will shoot the same? I assume they are for the 300 grain bullets instead of the 250. Curious if they change the pressures, therefore accuracy or anything like that?

If one wants to fit in, it's like barrel tape and must be blue.

Different makes of sabots and even colors of the same makes are not the same. While you cannot see it even a change as slight as .002 in a ready to shoot sabot can make a difference in how load and shoot.
I would not change sabots and expect the same results..

If you Order MMP from them, the color indicates the caliber of rifle, and bullet, Green is .50 shooting .429 Black is .50 shooting .452 Red is .54 shooting. 451
I know some of the big companies source sabots from MMP, but not who or which ones. At least some use the same color scheme. Do all?
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Its the smallest OD sabot MMP makes. The next step up is the HPH24 which is around .003-.004 larger. Most places wont stock the MMP 3 petal sabot. You would need to get them directly from MMP because Hornady does not sell just the sabot. You can also get them from Knight Rifle. Theirs are dyed orange but its the same sabot. MMP though is far cheaper once you figure in shipping. http://mmpsabots.com/store/black-3petal-ez/https://www.muzzleloaders.com/product/orange-ez-load-muzzleloader-sabots/
