Just curious what the consensus is as far as the best 357 lever gun on the market ? I handled a Henry and while good looking it felt like it had a bowling ball hanging off the barrel ,it was that muzzle heavy

I’d find a good clean used pre Remington Marlin 1894 LA or Winchester 94 if it was me.

Well, my favorite is a Rossi 92 clone. They are reportedly hit and miss for reliability, but I have never owned a bad one. It's light, handy, and smooth as silk.

Aside form that, a JM Marlin 1894 would be a good choice. While not as heavy as a Henry, they are heavy compared to a Winchester.

You might also look at the Henry BBS (Steel). I have a couple in .327. They are much, much lighter than the BB (Brass).

.
You are recommending a Remlin? "Recent production" would be a Remington made gun, Marlin stopped making guns over ten years ago.

have you owned a recent gun? My August 2018 produced 1894 357 is flawless after nearly 300 rounds and 1000 action cycles. Trigger breaks decent at 4 pounds. Fit and finish is excellent. It’s squared away. On the contrary my 1980 336 I just bought has a forend that is .1 wider on the right side. The jm guns weren’t perfect either

If you can find one, a Browning B-92, beautiful, light, good trigger.

Enough already, just shoot it!

Have a 1873 Cimmaron Arms that I really enjoy. Had it slicked up for CAS but quit that several years ago.

I’d go Rossi and then give it the Steve’s Gunz treatment.

I have the Henry BB brass in .357. Yeah, it's a bit heavy. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably choose the Henry BB steel.
They are way lighter. It's why I chose BB steel when I bought my .45 Colt. Tube fed doesn't bother me at all.

Absolutely, but if you want the best current production, look at the Winchester 1873, it is smooth and crisp right out of the box...

Best - Sako lever action (recognized as the best lever action ever made) In production No - not for lack of quality (economics apparently) Sadly, I will be selling mine shortly

I like my ‘94 Trapper...

I also have a brass framed Henry, but it just dosn’t have the soul of a Winchester.

I got a Rossi. It is very accurate, smooth, and feeds well. All you have to do to make the Rossi a really nice gun is cut a few coils off the ejector spring. That thing as shipped is way too strong. In fact, if I remember correctly, I replaced mine with a spring that I got out of a Harbor Freight spring kit. Now it closes up nice and easy, feeds anything perfectly, and drops the empties in a pile right at my feet.
