I kind of wonder if we are going full circle?
First the big box gun stores come in and put the small guys out of business.
Then the big box gunstores through their stupid policies end up putting themselves out of business.
And finally the small gunstores make a comeback.
Jerry Maybe its just the restrictive NE, but there are fewer and fewer small shops. I honestly don't think its only the big guys that put them out of business. Its the restrictive rules, regulations and local zoning. I remember 30 years ago taking a day to drive around and hitting a bunch of shops, now there are just and handful. None carry reloading and most of the business is defensive handguns and black rifles.
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

I have had recent problems with Cabela's over Herter's brand red-dot sights, regarding pricing - but just yesterday saw an ad somewhere for Herter's ammo - I think shotgun stuff - so looks like the "local" Cabela's still had some they were selling.
The red-dot thing pretty much ended me doing any more business with them, however.

HEY RyanTX...wellllll....it happened today ...about 2 hours ago....GOD'S HONEST TRUTH...... PETE Not saying it didn't happen to you, just first I've heard of that happening. Sucks if they've had a lawyer-based policy change. Well, I went into our local Cabela's "outfitter" store for the first time since my previous post and, sure enough, they've put trigger locks on ALL of the guns. Also, they've rearranged the whole friggin store. They now have 3x as much women's clothes as men's stuff now. They've changed some of the aisles from hunting gear to home furnishings (lamps, bedding, etc). Crap, they're turning it into a damn bed bath & beyond.

I'd have to be absolutely desperate to buy a gun, to buy one from Cabela's / Bass Pro.

Yeah Bass Pro has ruined Cabelas, they dropped the Berber outfitter fleece clothes line and you cant even layaway a gun at my local Cabelas since Bass Pro took over, I seldom ever go there anymore.......Hb

Cabela's was pretty fu^cked up before BP took them over, but, yeah, it's gotten worse.
And for the most part, the people they hire are idiots too.
