until 2020 when there's a chance for change, the house really does represent a lot of folks in this country.
the prez is still just that. and holds veto power to overide bills, or be over ridden.
the senate while technically under the control of the repubs, the repubs do not have full control.
i would say we are in a stand-off. what can either side do in 3 weeks?

I just listened to the speech. He clearly stated he was reopening for three weeks to get people paid ASAP, AND.........for reasonable negotiation for the wall to continue but also made it clear. At the end of three weeks he "would use the power invested in me by the Constitution of the US.........and address this emergency".
If that that doesn't translate to .............either negotiate or I'm going to do it without you........I don't know what it is.
Time will tell.

It was a tiny band aid to start with. It might have slowed the problem a bit; but nothing meaningful. It would have kicked the can to the next guy. There are forces like agriculture, and many others that'll fight this tooth and bone.
