Does anyone have either the Mossberg Patriot in .375 Ruger or does anyone have a .375 Ruger? So far in my Mossberg I have only shot the 270 grain Superformance ammo. Rocks you a little but I was able to shoot a whole box of ammo one afternoon/evening. I did ad a limbsaver slip on. The rifle needed the extra length before I dared put my eye behind the scope.
I found it fun to shoot. Like shooting a slug gun which is what we used to almost were only limited too not to long ago. I did get a couple 1” groups before the scope slipped in the rings.
I told the guys at work it’s my brush gun. I think this could kill anything in North&South America and Africa though if being chased by an elephant I would hope my guide had something larger.

I have a Ruger Alaskan .375 Ruger. I replaced the Hogue with a McMillan. It’s my dedicated moose rifle in grizzly country. I’ve shot theee bull moose with it so far all with 250gr TTSX. I like it!

I have a couple of 375 Rugers. One retains the factory 20" Alaskan barrel, the other has an aftermarket 23.5" barrel. Both are in fiberglass stock. I really like the cartridge. I have been loading 270 grain TSX for moose.

Mine has the 22” Marine Cote barrel on it.This rifle is light. I would like to get a different stock for mine. One that has a longer length of pull. You guys are so lucky to have moose to hunt. I was putting in for Maine but gave up and decided I was just donating to Maine. I need get a few more boxes of ammo for future reloading.

Yes, Mossberg Patriots are generally less expensive than comparable Rugers Hawkeyes, but I'd rather have a Ruger Hawkeye if price wasn't a key factor in the purchase decision.

I was wanting the cheapest route for the .375 and this was it. Ruger rifles are nice.

When I wanted an inexpensive rifle for one of my Son's friends to use on his first deer hunt, I bought a Mossberg Patriot in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is a serviceable rifle and I was surprised by how accurate it is. It wouldn't be my first pick, but it is a serviceable rifle.

Earlier in this thread you indicated that you wanted to restock it. If you go with a Boyds stock, you're probably looking at an additional $150 to $225, so your budget goes from $330 to somewhere between $480 and $555, creeping closer to the Rugers at CDNN. I've done the same thing with RAR-Ps, installing Boyds laminated Heritage style stocks on them that took them from budget priced rifles to close to what I have purchased stainless Hawkeyes for. A potential problem with entry-level rifles is that to be inexpensive, they have to compromise somewhere and you can get sucked in to improving them one piece at a time until you're spent more than you ever intended and more than you are likely to get out of it. The "Stone Soup" process of going from inexpensive and practical to an expensive money pit.

Not that you intend to get suck in, but it is easy to wade in slowly and spend a little money repeatedly until you realize that you've spent real money in dribs and drabs.

If I had the chance of hunting moose and big bears I probably would of spent the extra cash for the Ruger. This rifle will do considering it will only be shot in the yard at paper and letting friends shoot it so they can say they shot one. I may also one day take it out to kill a deer or two with it. Way overkill I know.
