How are those Boyd’s stocks working out? Kinda hard to justify doing anything to except load and shoot. Yeah, I'm not crazy about the stock on mine, but I wouldn't wan to add a lot of weight to it.

What is the going rate for these in your area? I see Alabama said he paid $379. I can't get them used here for that.
I got my 243 for $250 used.....then sold the scope for $100 😉

has anybody tried one of the b&c medalist stocks on their rar or rap? kinda hard to justify a $200 stock on a $400 gun but whatever. Big Ed

The reports about magazines and complaints about the stocks make me think they’re prices right, if not $25-50 too high.

Not a single issue with Magazine. Stock is just a plain plastic/composite stock.

Bought a compact stainless in 308 when they were hot off the press. Out of the box it was OK, 3 shots inch to inch and a half at 100 usually with a couple near touching and one stray. I noticed the for stock was touching the barrel on one side plus it was a flimsy deal anyway; they've since stiffened them up a bit. So I poured some thickened epoxy in the hollow and bedded a couple runs of fiber glass in there and let it set so the barrel was dead center. Groups shrunk to consistently sub moa and I only gained a few ounces of weight iirc I'm at 6 lbs 10 oz with a 3-9 vx 2 in Talleys. I bought it as kind of a joke - on a whim but now I find myself carrying the little bugger a lot more than much nicer rigs. Just so handy and I don't GAF if it gets banged up. which it has.

How are those Boyd’s stocks working out? Kinda hard to justify doing anything to except load and shoot. I thought it was a worthwhile upgrade on mine does add some weight though. The going price on Ruger Americans leaves room in the wallet for upgrades IMO. Now that they have the AI style magazine versions available that would be the only platform I'd buy now.

The Ruger Americans aren’t really my style of rifle. But I traded into one last year in .223 Tossed a 4.5-14 Burris on top, I didn’t own a .223 at the time. So I picked up a box of factory ammo just to zero and make brass, and I’ll be darned if it wasn’t a shooting SOB. Needles to say I never loaded the first round for it. No need. I hunted a time or 2 with it. Smacked one coyote at 305yds then sold it. Don’t really miss it but kinda wish I’d kept it. Thinking of picking the gf up one in .243 and putting it in a purple stock of some sort for her to hunt with. Again not my style but it’s hard to find something to complain about for 380$

The only real problem I have with them is the trigger guard being part of the stock, It's being picky but I hate that.

Ain’t my favorite configuration for a trigger guard for sure, especially because I break so damn many of them.

I thought all the mag problems were 223? No issues with 243 here I'm pretty sure it was the RAR 22-250's that really had mag problems due to the configuration of the '250 case. My 223 mag feeds pretty well, the '250 mags I've dealt with pretty much sucked.

I thought all the mag problems were 223? No issues with 243 here Negative. I’ve owned and used a bunch of the rotary mag RAR’s now, multiples each in 6.5 Creed and 7-08. Nearly all of them have had magazine failures. Most common problem is that after the first or second round, the mag fails to elevate the following round high enough to be engaged by the bolt face. I found the AI mag version for my son, and it hasn’t had any feeding hiccups so far.

Could set up a Redding FL type 'S' bushing die to do the same thing.. Yeah I know the brass doesn't fit the chamber as close, but I haven't seen a loss in accuracy and we are talking about cheap Ruger hunting rifles anyway..
