For you guys that know Arizona, I’m looking for some suggestions on units that offer a good elk hunt(not the top trophy units) and might be a little easier to draw a tag?

What are you looking for (bull?) and with what weapon?

I'm assuming you are a NR and haven't applied before. NR's only get 10% of the tags however it is possible to pull a tag on your first . I'm a Non res and have pulled 3 tags in 17 years and should pull a early rut bow tag this year.. My son in law, also a NR, had pulled late rifle bull tag the first time he applied and pulled a early archery tag 9 years later.

Rifle bull?? Unless you do the late hunts your gonna have to wait 20 yrs. late hunts? 6-8 yrs I’d say on most....course with point creep you never know. I just burned 14 on a early muzzleloader bull this past year. Your better off trying for archery.

We don’t have elk. Shhh. As an out of stater, I’m not sure I’d put in for rifle bull tags. It’s going to be a while. I archery hunt Arizona, but rifle hunt in Colorado.

Definitely not getting any easier to draw with the 10% NR rule with half of those going to max point holders, 22 points for me this year and the early rifle hunts I'm looking at may still be a few years out!
Good luck guys!

You can get lucky on some of the Peaks Hunt's unit 7e but they've really done a number on the elk there from these hunts the past 7/8 years

Just apply for antlerless 10, 7E or 7W there will be the most tags and best chance to draw. You can always call Lance at TLOhunting.com and he has like 90% success on the OTC area.
