Hey guys, how hard is it to swap barrels from one M-12 to another? Can the average joe do it?

They are beyond the reach of most home type guys. They are tough to take apart and special tools are required to keep from marring them. Getting them to line up after the fact can be a bummer and if you screw it up it gets even more expensive to fix.

It would be easier just to change out everything in front of the action. I bought a model 12 barrel a long time ago and the plan was to exchange it with a damaged barrel on a model 12. I never got it done. I still have that barrel somewhere, it might be rusty.
I prefer classic.

you need an experienced gunsmith on them or you will mess it up.. it is not something you want to learn on.

Is Nu-Line still in business? Last I heard they were Harvester, MO?

My Model 12 has a big ol' ugly Cutts Compensator on it. I wish it didn't but I'll live with it. When you get a model 12 set up right leave it alone and shoot it. It's a great gun but can be extremely finicky.

How does it handle with the Cutts? They were quite the thing back in the day and can make some guns a bargain because nobody likes them. I think stuff like that is kind of cool so leave the bargains to me.

Mine is a 1925 receiver with a WS-1 barrel that was cut, threaded, and a Cutts added. I thought if i could put a 30 in. full barrel on it i would shoot some trap with it as it has pretty nice wood and i just like a M-12 anyway as i grew up shooting one. My dad sent one to Simmons for a rib and wood in the late sixties and i shot it for years. But it's not sounding like a home shop job.
We still have dads M-12. He gave it to my daughter just before he passed. I could shoot it anytime i want but its hers now and i just want one of my own.
