After watching a show on this I would like to try it. Any tips on where to go, time of year, guides to use? The show (Hank Parker) fished in the Venice area of Louisiana
Trying to find out as much as possible before driving down and checking it out.
Thanks!

The fishing now is very slow.October is my favorite month with the spotted trout and reds bitting.Suggest a 3 day trip with 2 days inshore one off shore tuna showing up in the fall. Some great guides in the Venice area cost inshore 600 a day plus lodging/meals.Have a camp in Cocodrie love it down here.On the guide call and ask best time in the fall and call reference customers.JMHO

Most fun I've ever had fishing was out of Venice. Four of us all limited out on reds and specs before lunch two days in a row...mid September.

Snowwolfe, We have fished in both Venice, and Delacroix for trout, reds, and some limited offshore for about the last 15 years. We try to get there a couple of times a year. Coming from North Georgia, it's too hot in the summer for me, so I like spring and fall the best. It can be great any time of the year.

We were in Delacroix in late November and again the 3rd week in January. We limited out on reds. Not so on the trout due to the amount of fresh water pouring into the marsh. There are three breaks in the levy, and with the rainwater moving down the river, we were catching bass where there should be trout.

I can personally recommend both of these guys:
For Venice, call Capt. Anthony Randazzo, Paradise Plus Guide Service, Inc., 37813 Hwy 23, Buras, LA 70041, 504-628-4526, www.paradise-plus.com

For Delacroix, call: Captain Jack Payne III, (504) 453-8382 (Capt. Jack), (504) 342-2368 (Marina), email infodelacroixfishing.com
l6205 Delacroix Hwy, Saint Bernard, LA 70085

How is the fishing on Center Hill?

Good luck and tight lines!

Thanks folks. Wife and I want to try a guided trip then next time tow our boat down (19 ft Alumacraft T195 semi vee, 200 hp Yamaha, 36 volt Ulterra)
I have not fished Center Hill yet. Wife and I usually fish Chickamunga or Nickajack for big blue catfish. But we need to start doing some large mouth fishing.

Also look at guides in the LaFitte area. Understand that the guides you've seen on Bill Dance and other TV shows will be booked solid a year in advance, and will charge super premium rates.

Venice is the place to go if you want to go after tuna etc and redfish, trout. If your just after redfish Delacroix is great and I can also recomend captain Jack and sweetwater marina. Theophile Bourgeois out of Lafite is great also. Nice lodge close to NOLA.

Hank was fishing with the fish intimidator lodge on redfish lake. It looks fun, and that Ranger bay boat he was in looked great.

I would recommend Journey South Outfitters out of Venice. Awesome people, great place to stay, and the food is amazing.

Hate to disagree but there is no place better than Venice. You can catch all the redfish you want and the same day catch 100's of bass, trout, tuna, what ever you want.

Used to make at least two trips a year down to Venice when I lived inTexas. Easily my favorite fishing local in the country. I’d retire there if I could get my wife to accept living in Southern La.

Have had great trips to Cocodrie, Buras and Golden Meadow locations for reds, black drum and specs. Out of Cocodrie you can hit the shallow rigs and catch a smorgasbord; ling, mangrove snapper, bull reds, amberjack, grouper, etc. We brought in 600lbs of fish on one trip.
