How are the plastic beds in the Tacoma's holding up?

Not an issue. I wouldn’t drop broken concrete out of a backhoe at any height, it for every thing an outdoorsman uses a Tacoma for they are great. Had 211k and 11 years on my 07.

you'll need a rubber bed liner.............they are slick......stuff won't stay put.......

just buy from Amazon....Anything Auto.......etc......$75-80 IIRC

They come long enough for the long bed......simply trim for the short bed

Yep......1/2" horse trailer mat was the perfect length for my 6' bed 02 Taco.

About $30 back then.....I have no idea what they cost now.

Mine is 12 years old with no issues at all. Putting a rubber mat in there probably isn't a bad idea but I don't have one. I had one of the bed extenders added when I bought mine and when turned inside it keeps gear close enough to the tailgate to not be a problem. With the smaller beds on these trucks the bed extender is a good idea.

The bed in my 2012 is holding up fine.

2006 that has had all manner of stuff in it and has lived outside with no issues whatsoever

No issues so far. Not even discoloration from the sun. I'd be a bit hesitant about boring holes and mounting stuff in the bed but otherwise, my initial concerns seem unfounded.

My 2011 Tacoma bed still looks nearly new. I have a rubber mat and it does get used. I hauled a pair of tall argon cylinders laying down, choked good enough for the route I was taking. I ended up on a detour out in the middle of nowhere on a road I’d never seen. Long story short, I took a curve a bit too fast and those cylinders broke free and slammed hard over to the other side and back again before I could pull over. I fully expected to see the inner fenderwells smashed to bits, but to my surprise there was hardly even a mark from the paint that rubbed off the cylinder.

After seeing how popcan thin the steel beds are on newer full-size trucks, I’d actually prefer one made like the Tacoma if I had a choice.

Mine is doing fine on my 2005.

Had a 06, an 09, and currently have a 2014. I have not had any durability issues with them. But like others have
stated, they are slick, You will need some kind of bed mat.

Question: Any concerns with water (rain/washing) under the mat?

In 8 years I’ve had my mat out exactly once to wash out from under it. And that was only because a quart of bar oil tipped over and ran under it. There are a couple of drain holes in the front corners so just keep those cleaned out.

My only beef with these beds are the lack of tie down points in the front corners. There are kits available to add them and I keep saying I need to do it, but after 150k miles, you know. You’d think enough people would want them they could throw $20 worth of parts at it before it rolled off the line.

Ive got a 2019...use it hard and LOVE it. Its a beast in the woods and does great in the snow. Much better than my previous 16 F350.

I had to build a custom TRD of sorts as I HATE the current V6. Its a very quirky motor. The saving grace is that the 2.7 is probably the most durable has engine toyota has ever built. I had a 95 with that motor that was running perfect when i sold it 415XXX on it.

No. We're talking about the plastic composite beds in a Tacoma.
