The other thread (and Stick's theory that headstamps matter less than boolits) got me thinking...
Bullet? Distance? Number of shots? (Although I tend to keep shooting as long as there is movement) Throw in caliber if you desire, as the other thread asked for rifles.
.308 180 TSX 350 yards (300 Weatherby) .284 160 Partition Distances between 40-200 yards. (7mm Rem Mag)

.264 140 Partition .264 140 X 7mm 150 TTSX 7mm 162 Amax .308 180 TSX .308 168 TSX .308 180 PP
Those are the ones that come immediately to mind. A couple of those elk took more than one hit (I'm a believer in the fact that the shooting is the fun part, so might as well enjoy it), but only one of them was a legitimate concern of getting away - that was with a 300 RUM and 168 TSX's where the 1st was at 10 yards, the 2nd at 15 yards, again at 40 yards (more than 2 hours and 600 yards away from the first shots in thick timber) and a 4th and final one at 50 yards. That bull showed an incredible will to live, with less than one fully functioning lung and only 1 fully functioning rear wheel when he finally gave up. That said, I think a more frangible bullet would have probably killed him quicker, and I wouldn't have hesitated to take the same shot with my 243AI and a 105 Amax as it was first presented.
Incidentally, one (IIRC) bullet was recovered, fully expanded (which I would have expected given the 3300+ fps impact velocity), in the front of his rear leg. That one completely popped one lung, and caught the edge of the rear lobe of the other lung, but not enough to deflate it.
Why pack all that messy meat out of the bush when we can just go to the grocery store where meat is made? Hell,if they sold antlers I would save so much money I could afford to go Dolphin fishing. Maybe even a baby seal safari.

Kiss principle 2 elk with 180 gr Nosler Partitions in 2 different 300 Win Mags of course. 2 elk with 225 gr Nosler Partitions in the same M77RS 35 Whelen. Notice how I simplified everything on the 2 nd 2 using the same gun with the same load that came out of the same box of shells? I am getting better as I age. MB

Technically 4 different bullets, but only two brands, in same caliber (.375): Hornady 270 gr.SP, Barnes 270 gr. “X”, “TSX”, and a Barnes 250 TTSX. memtb

Magnum Bob - not much the Partition will not handle. Cup and Core bullet failures on an Elk hunt (IIRC) is what led Bob Nosler to design the NP.

Nosler Partition Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, old Jack Carter style Nosler Accubond North Fork.
Of the bullets listed, all have produced plenty of one-shot kills, with no hiccups.

Not too many different ones.
Bull elk, 250-gr Nos Part. ~ 125 yds. (340 Wby)
“, 250-gr Nos Part. ~ 125-150 yds. (“)
“, 165-grs TTSX ~ 400 yds (30/06)
“, 210-gr Lost River Tech. Early Monolithic. 475 yds (340 Wby). Recovered one of the three in this bull - the only bullet I’ve recovered from an elk. Very hard - penciled through with very little expansion.
Bull elk, 225-gr Horn Interlock. 150-200 yds (340 Wby)
Bull elk, 210-gr TSX. 345-yds (340 Wby)
Cow elk, 325-gr hard cast. ~ 40 yds. (45 Colt)
Bull elk, 210-gr TSX ~ 480 yds. (340 Wby)
Cow elk, 405-gr hard cast ~ 40-50 yds (45/70)
Bull elk, 140-gr TTSX ~ 100 yds. (284 Win)
Edit: correct error.

I guess I don't understand the question, I thought you had to use a different bullet every time? Especially if you didn't recover the last one??
