Anybody else seen this? Winchester has finally released their 22 WMR sub sonic rounds for sale. I use my 22 WMR to dispatch nuisance alligators with my silencer. It's going to be nice to see what the subs do.

I'll let you know after I dispatch a couple of alligators if it is any better than a sub sonic 22lr .I will be happy if it is the same. At least it will be quieter than a full power 22 WMR most shots are less than 2 feet.

I was raised on a farm, we killed hogs and cows with a 22 LR every year, one shot and they went down and then were bled out. No one ever said we needed anything else to shoot them with as it always worked ok.. I shot a Horse with a 44 special that had to be put down because that was all I had to do the job with, but I am sure a 22 LR would done just as well as a horse has a very thin skull compared to a Hog. I do own a 22 mag but use it to shoot groundhogs at a longer range than I use the 22LR for.. I have fell in love with the 17 mach2 for groundhog shooting mainly for its accuracy and instant death for the groundhog.

For Long Range,the 22LR has no equal,due it's Precision.

At subsonic velocity I've not seen a lot of evidence that favors lead or copper in regards to penetration. Form probably has a big influence but anything aside from pure lead doesn't upset much, if at all.

The Aguila 22LR 60gr subsonic would be my choice before the 22WMR sub load.

i think i understand what of you speak. for instance a 16 yr. old deer poacher could expect better penetration with the jacketed bullet. if it was suppressed it would be the cat's meow. but given the clientele in this instance, it probably wouldn't be suppressed.

something like that for hog hunting ought to be a good thing in the thickets.
