Midway's shipping has always been out of line. Very high.

Glad its just the sleds 30' down and not you or Marlene. I remember telling Goll I'd seen a coyote up the river from you and he called BS on it. He said had to have been a wolf pup but I knew the difference Glad you redeemed me all these year later!

I used them last week and received it in two days only because they are close to the Rustyzipper Ranch. Once in the spring I was up in the night so I made an order. When I got home that night (12 hour shift ) a box was on the step. It was the order from that morning. I see why you guys don't like them, but I used to order when shipping was free. And their service was good then. One of the Alaskan advantages is one of your problems. Shipping is high. The space from the rest of the US and too many big cities is good. Be well. Rusty

I was spending $2k/year with Midway in 1999 when they got rid of free shipping in the lower 48.
I quit buying from Midway and found other suppliers in Shotgun news.

The world wide web got going. We had websites in 1994 [Ford was one page], but real commercial websites and real gun forums started ~ 2000.

Years later Midway and I made up, and I am buying a little from them again.

I like Poterfields videos on youtube...but they NEVER have anything in stock.

...and their "awesome" shipping is slow and expensive.

Their shipping isn't as fast or cheap as it was a few years ago.

It's entirely reasonable to charge customers the actual cost of shipping to wherever they live. It's also a reasonable business decision to spread average shipping costs over the entire customer base, which is probably how they handled this situation. Some of us will pay a bit more than actual cost, some will get a break. Amazon Prime, which I've used for years, is pretty much a pre-paid discount shipping program, and which includes a pretty good streaming service at no extra cost. I beat them like a drum with this, and make dang sure their price isn't out of line with other sources.

My pet shipping peeves are adding "handling" to the cost of shipping, which is either a way to lowball the listed price, or akin to charging for dealer undercoating on cars coated at the factory; and the use of Fedex Smartmail, an invention of Satan designed to drive in innocent people insane. For whatever reason, the UPS version works better and faster.

I simply pick my suppliers based on availability and total delivered price, on an individual basis. Only takes minutes to find a good deal, if one's to be had.

Amazon also charges different prices for items depending on the user's location (and presumably other things), so they can bake shipping costs into the price. They don't really go out of their way to hide it either.

We're lucky that midway was dumb enough to gouge. It gave several others the foothold they needed to compete. Thanks Potterfield!
