Looking for advice on what base and rings to use to mount a scope onto my Encore barrel.
The barrel has a slight taper. I've been told to use steel base/rings. The steel bases I've seen all have partial cross slots. I'd think a full cross slot base would be stronger against recoil. or does it not make too much of a difference?
Rings... I've found a couple pairs of steel rings (Leupold PRW or Weaver Grand Slam). Leupold has 2 cross slot screws, Weaver has only 1. I know Warne makes some good ones but I'm not a fan of the top mount screw. if those are the best amongst the others, I might be able to look past that. Also, going to try for possibly 3 (or 4 depending on base) rings to mount the scope.
I had one recommendation to use the steel Leupold DD base and rings.
What say you all?

He asked about mounting on an Encore barrel. not a SW hand gun, it is a whole different ballgame and needs special equipment to keep the scope base on...
