MkV actions are big and heavy, not considered cool by some.

But for a bigger round where some weight is OK, I think they’re good to go.

They are extremely well machined and built, very strong.

I don’t want a safe full of them but the one I have is a keeper.

DF I like the way the Mcwoody looks with the Mark v action. That 110 NAB RL22 load is a common theme definitely worth a try in the 257 Roy. Some of the Mark V actions take a while to smooth out.

May check out Ray Bowman.

Good luck and shoot straight all

It did turn out nice, has a classic look. I have three NcWoody stocks, obviously I like them.

I can post additional photos of the MkV, McWoody Express if desired. I like the shape of that stock and how it handles. The comb is designed for scope or irons, so it’s not extreme. The forearm is compact. It’s about the optimal Wby option from McM, IMO.

I have a MKV six lug action.
Did not like the factory synthetic stock either.
Went with a McMillan Edge in Sako Classsic. Feels and looks a lot better now.

Agreed, the Express pattern is a really nice design. It has a more traditional look/feel than a typical Weatherby stock

What price range would I be looking at? Also going to put a Timney on it and maybe in the future I’ll rebarrel it. Not sure I could bring myself to do it since it’s my first rifle.

Just called McMillan and they said the Sako Classic is what I’d have to go with to get away from the raised comb. Estimated cost $600

The McM Sako Classic will have a cheek piece.

Sako Classic second from right.

I'd not want that handle on a Whetherbee.

Slight differences such as a better palm swell. It’s carbon fiber too which is nice
