Buying (and selling) guns seems to be a constant state of affairs for me; I'm always thinking of something different that I haven't tried yet. So, I will almost certainly have another rifle in the cabinet by next fall and some now in the cabinet will be gone. As hobbies go, it's less expensive than collecting automobiles and safer than chasing women.

That little bugger is just about dandy as-is for hunting. Shoots really really well too- well under 2MOA with issue iron sights.

I just bought back a Ruger MkII stainless skeleton stock 30-06 I'd sold a couple of years ago. Started out just buying the stock that was advertised and then the guy said, aren't you the guy I bought this from. I said, yeah your name sounds familiar. He said you want to buy the whole thing? Bingo!!! Yep.

Plus I just ran across a Reminton 660 in 308 her on the classifieds. Thrilled to get it. Nice looking rifle and in good shape.

my bucket list is a colt sauer. Wanted once since I was a kid. Just don't see the need in it really.

Rebarreling 243 to 6.5x47L unless I get talked into the creedmoor reamer. I would be smarter to do it that way since I won't be around all that much to load the wifes hunting ammo and such, but I'm a sucker for different rounds.... we will see what reamers arrive in a care package to my gunsmith. Lucky I have not ordered dies or brass yet but the shilen SS match barrel is ready for me to put on the lathe.

More important right now to strip the 458 win mag and have it salt bath nitride coated before I leave for AK.

picked up two .223s recently, a montana and a salvage LWH (cheap). seeing as how the largest game i perforate are whitetails, the cartridge and these platforms are making a lot of sense to me. lightweight, accurate, easy to shoot, cheap ammo, easy to reload ... wondering why ive made it harder on myself than it needs to be for so long.

Any plan I might make now for myself is subject to change up to opening day anyway.

Kiddo 1 is old enough for the youth hunt this coming fall. Much more concerned about getting her comfortable. It'll either be a Win 70 Ranger youth 223Rem that someone before me shortened even further, or, I'll shorten the spare Kimber 84 wood stock I've got and swap the 223 Montana barreled action in. Shots will be close (50-100yds) from an elevated/enclosed blind over crops or a food plot.

I did find one at a gunshop near my office. A 1964 M40. It has my interest.

I'd use the Ranger out of those two choices.

While I have three I am fooling with (.308 GSR, M70 .300 WBY, 1894 Swede Carbine-6.5x55) I will be using my usual deer and elk rifles if I draw tags. Only exception is a rifled shotgun.

My partner and I bought Savage 220, 20 ga bolt action compact fully rifled shotguns for next doe season. I added a Leupold 3-9x40. We began hunting a more open ranch a few years ago and wanted to see if these were better at 175 yards than our pumps. Looks good so far. I took it to the range last Sunday and got it roughly zeroed at 3.5" high at 100 yards. Two inch wide by 1/2 inch tall group. It was windy though so I will try it again next week.

Bringing the wife on her first big game hunt this fall. We're heading to South Carolina with our local SCI chapter for a whitetail hunt with Collins Low Country. I've my eyes peeled for a 243 or 6.5cm for her. We shall see what pops up in the local shops in the coming month or two.

I waste too much hunting time standing in front of the gun safe trying to decide what to use now. I don’t need or want any more rifles. (Well, I don’t need any.)

No. I hunt with my 30-30 carbine every year and it has always done the job for me. I'd rather spend my money on out-of-state hunts rather than new rifles or gear. Plans for 2019 include a mule deer hunt in western South Dakota within the vast Black Hills Nat'l Forest.
