Sitting in one of my favorite gunshops for almost 26 years unfired. 300 Win mag.
Wow that is nice! FUnny Story, the owner of the store held it for me for a few days until I could get there. I was not overly thrilled with it because it had a black gummy film on it. I left it on the counter picked up another 300 mag rifle, it was a weatherby vanguard SS. I then went back to the counter with it to buy it, I asked to see the M70 again and rubbed the film on the PF with my thumb and it came off easily. It came home with me, took it apart and cleaned it(30 minutes tops) and then noticed the mysterious absence of a claw extractor.  but for what I paid for it no big deal. 1992 build.

That is a funny story. Every now and then, even us serious gun guys miss something kinda obvious! Glad you came out $wise.

99.9% sure that stock did not leave the factory with that pad or grip cap. Not that it matters.
SS push feeds are certainly rare. My thought as well. 79S, is the word “featherweight “ in script? The other few I have seen all were.

That are seen on the later blued pushfeed featherweights with featherweight in script, stamped on the barrel.

I just found a stainless one in a stainless XTR Featherweight 270win in a factory McMillan featherweight stock. Did they come with a factory McMillan stock? How rare would they be?

I just found a stainless one in a stainless XTR Featherweight 270win in a factory McMillan featherweight stock. Did they come with a factory McMillan stock? How rare would they be? The only McMillan on a factory-issue that I'm aware of was the Winlite, decent ergos. Some Winlite stocks were also made by Brown. In general, SS XTR's tend to be rare, though some nice ones have been posted here as of late. Buy it and post pics, would like to see it !

Two years ago I picked up one (SS PF 30-06 Fwt) in a similar stock to what you've got. Great rifle - and yes, would be the exact same quality as a CRF Classic, just w/o a different extractor/feed system. Mine was rebarrelled by Redneck into a 6.5x284 Norma, and would shoot nice tiny groups and scored this muley @560y that Fall: ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/VOATxbc.jpg) Calling Dibs, just in case... 😁
