Get a PRI 3" offset mount & a decent scope. Midsouth just happens to have the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 on sale for $450 right now. I don't have one, but some of my buds have been running them for a couple seasons on Service Rifles out to 600 and seem to like them.
Oh, rifle too, huh? I like BCM, DD and Colt, etc, but I'll settle for a PSA.
I built my 1st AR and am completely happy with it! Don’t understand why so many folks claim you shouldn’t build your 1st? It made the experience that much sweeter! It was a great project with my son and it helped us both understand the platform so much more. It’s great having it exactly the way I want it. I will admit though I have more $$$ into it than I had originally planned but I wanted a solid gun. I say do your research and figure out what you want and start ordering the parts, that’s half the fun of it too! Successfully test firing it for the 1st time will give you great satisfaction and it’ll make the rifle seem that much better! Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Abbreviations, trade craft, for someone who's not in the trade.............
My only thought is, complete rifle, No builds or Customs at this point,
Or?
https://www.stagarms.com/left-handed-rifles/ left handed, they are not bad rifles my friend had one its about average quality I have a 6.8 bolt from them and its done well over 7-800 fired in it as I mostly hunt with that gun. Might be nitrided barrels, don't buy a bare steel barrel from anyone unless chambers rust from time to time depending on what you do.
Slap a CMC flatty trigger in it and you are there.
Hint.............

I know the OP is left handed, but the only thing I noticed by having one was I had to pick up brass on both sides of the table, instead of one... If you buy a good one with the brass deflector, shooting a right handed AR is just fine. I would not buy a smooth side upper, if shooting left handed. That would be my only suggestion. All of my AR's (including my AR10) are right handed now... Here's what my lefty looked like. I upgraded the BCG to a nickel boron black rain ordnance, and ran a 4-16x50 Trijicon on it:
The lower was an older Bushmaster XM15. Upper was a Stag, as Jimmy suggested and I never had one single failure or glitch with the rifle. It ran like a well oiled sewing machine.. For those that want to post pics, IMGUR is the best way to go.

I'm new to ARs too. Just bought and put together a complete kit from PSA. My first AR. I'd agree with Stick, although our experience levels are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Get a good kit, stripped lower and build it how you want it. Options are pretty much endless, which is half the fun. You'll save $$ vs buying complete. Putting it together is easy and fun too. I'm already thinking about number 2 (and 3 and 4....)

Oh and don't ignore the pistol option... depending on what you want to use it for, the "pistol braces" can make for a versatile little gun. Love mine so far.

Just for amusement, which stripped lower would be needed?
And exactly WTH is a stripped lower, whats lacking?
EVERYTHING you need, comes in the cited kit...excepting the stripped lower for $50 or so.
Stay alloy lower, not Poly and you will be fine................

I just put this exact kit together the other day. It took about an hour, only because it was my first rodeo and I was building it on my work desk, not at home. I'm quite sure if I had another in front of me right now it would take about 20 minutes. Looking forward to some trigger time with it this week.

Well I built it on my work desk, but I brought a few tools from home. A couple of punch pins, hammer, set punch, armorers wrench, razor blade, and a hammer. I couldn't wait to get it home to put it together so I brought enough tools to get it done.

Traditional upper has a dust cover and forward assist. Smooth doesn’t. I’d stay with a standard upper. I’d buy it assembled instead of stripped so both dust cover and FA is in place. Then you’d have to install barrel, gas tube and block, hand guard.
It’s not hard to put together an upper assembly, or a lower but some tools are required. Plenty of videos out there to help.
Easiest route other than buying a complete rifle would probably be to buy a complete upper already assembled, with or without a lower kit. Buy lower and parts sperately if needed. You would need an stripped lowers, lower parts kit (you can get them with and without trigger group). Then assemble the lower yourself using the trigger and buttstock of your choice. You would need an armorers wrench to torque and install the castle nut on the buffer tube extension. Read up on staking. None of it is rocket science.
Upper assembly from parts takes a little more know how and tools but still not difficult. You can get into “truing” receiver face, bedding barrel extension etc. if you want to go to that level of detail. I’ve done a few of both with no issues.
Tell us what you expect from the rifle and it’s intended use, and what you want to spend and you’ll get plenty of recommendations

Go to you tube and watch some videos on how to assemble an AR15. Big Sticks advise on the kit and trigger is good advise. I didn't see a BCG (bolt carrier group) included in the kit, so that would be needed along with a stripped lower. You will need to go through a FFL for the stripped lower because it has the serial number on it and is considered the controlled item. The rest can be legally bought without a FFL

Need to look into Stag arms also.

Buying the kit is your best deal, $$ wise; added a lower from Anderson or PSA, or whoever suits your fancy for $50-60, assembled (ejection & on forward assist installed) & you are done,
Finishing the assembly on the lower takes some patience & GO SLOWLY, & you will need some punches, preferably pin punches & regular as well.
If you want to spring $$ for an upgraded, drop-in trigger, it will go a little easier for a first timer.
Surprised someone didn't cite a CMC cassette trigger,to help her out.....................(grin)

Kenneth, my friend, it sounds like you should either buy a complete upper & lower or a complete rifle this time. Just until you gather up the tools and learn a little more nomenclature.

Or just spend like 10 minutes on google finding out how an AR operates. Buffers, gas tubes and blocks, BCGs, mag release, etc. You can go much more in depth after you have one but they are easier to put together than my kids lego sets. I bought a $9 lower vise block and a $8 wrench on fleabay, a couple of roll pin punch sets, and everything else was stuff that I had. Seriously, watch that video that I posted.

8T handles up to what weight comfortably?
8 handles up to 80gr.
As far as I'm concerned, 9 is a junk twist. Most of 9s will handles 77s, but some won't. Especially if you get into Sierra TMK and the like.
Four pages and no one has suggested a 2 pin build to poor Kenneth!
Buy a complete lower, PSA (Palmetto State Armory) usually has 2 or 3 on Daily Deals. This will need to go to a FFL, like any lower or complete rifle. Buy the lefty complete upper from Stag or wherever....
Pivot pin, take down pin and your ready to shoot.
Except you should clean it first to remove any manufacturing grease or oil and oil it with something good like Lucas or Slip 2000.
Of course to clean it right you will need to dis-assemble the BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) and re-assemble it. Watch a YouTube video.....

Seriously, if you can change a tire, you can build an AR lower. It's really that easy. I get the apprehension if it't not something you've ever done, but even the most basic skills will give you a functioning gun. Your other option is to just spend more money up front, then more money after when you want to change stuff that you have to learn how to change anyways.

If you can't assemble AR's you have zero mechanical abilities. They really are super simple.

I admittedly don't know much about ARs, but I like SS for one, and l like the 18" barrel. Plus if you're sticking with issued parts, the trigger will be a bit better in the other kit. Order now and get the Turkey day stripped lower for $39.99 and it's a done deal.

He is too dumb to understand that Chip McCormick, is too busy to come live in your rifle.
What he would say if he was coherent would be, "Buy a Chip McCormick trigger." It replaces the normal individual parts with an enclosed assembly. Just insert it, and use the pins to hold it in place.

Not totally sure how this works, But when you buy a stripped lower, register it as undeclared, or a pistol. If you register it as a rifle, just putting a pistol upper on it makes you a felon. If it's a pistol or undeclared, you can use any upper.
I started to explain the rules for pistols and rifles, it is about as clear as mud. Lots of "if you's." The easy version is register as a pistol. If you use it as a rifle you will be good. The option for other uses will be there. If you decide to make it a pistol, with or without a brace, you will be able to. But check the laws. Certain combinations can suddenly become illegal.

Wrong if you live in a free state the dealer registers them as other. If you live in California psa even states they ship as rifle lowers. The dealer I go to here in Wasilla told me all stripped lowers go in the book as other. If you have to tell your dealer to register a stripped lower as other, it's time to find another dealer..

Add the CMC...if only yet AGAIN...............(grin)
Don't know what a CMC is.......
Hint.....
I will say this your Google fu sucks.. if I were you saddle up to the computer, click on you tube. In the search bar type AR15 build hit enter. Then prepare to have your mind blown. After that do a new search and type AR15 triggers. Hit enter and sit back and watch.. then go to PSA or hit any of the links provided, buy the psa rifle kit, then buy a psa stripped lower. Have the lower shipped to your ffl. If you are lucky your dealer will be in psa database already. It's easy peasy.

I handed her Highlighted LINKS on a Silver Platter and she still fhuqked it up.

CMC makes triggers. They're very good triggers, but not as good as others are for only a little more money, and they're made by a great group of people who do a lot to support the shooting community. I don't need to afford them because I've got a pile of them and they send me more for free when I ask.
Folks who "know" and "do" as "much" as you, will ALWAYS be better served by asking questions...rather than giving "answers". Hint.
Bless your heart for trying though.
Congratulations?!?

If you get them for free and have so many how's about selling me a 2.5# flat trigger?
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!
That is fine. It may lack a little accuracy compared to the SS barrel, but it will probably last longer. It's still good enough to blast a deer @ 300. I've won club matches shooting one just like that.

I traded all my flat for curved bows. My kids’ 15-22 has. 2.5# curved. In use it’s indistinguishable from the 3.5# model.
You are the Jeff-Zero of AR's. Hint. Congratulations?!?
Bless your heart.

There are those who win matches and those who merely dream of greatness and pretend that the last hundredth of a BC point plugged into a ballistic calculator makes them more than mediocre, and choose instead to simply be "characters" known only for their blowing. Congratulations?
Didn't the last guy from Wisconsin with an AR go.postal in the woods and kill a bunch of deer hunters?

Whatever. Tell the oompa loompa's hey for me. [/quote]. LtPPowell
SS is fine, but CM isn't bad. SS tend to die from one shot to the next at the end of their life while CM just fade away
If worried about corrosion etc... simply dura bore coat a CM. SS is not necessary. Quality of the barrel is more important than type of metal basically.
I'd not go less than 8 or 9 twist personally. There are reasons to, but I don't have any of them. I"ve rarely been unhappy with a 7 twist. Even 6.5 twists will shoot thick jacketed 52 smks... varmint 50ish the 6.5 will not, and even the 7s have toasted some thin skin Berger bullets years ago before they beefed up their 63s IIRC.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
I would replace the trigger, even if it's polished, it's still too heavy.
Personally, I don't see the point of billet receivers on 5.56 hunting guns, and certainly not the lower. Maybe someone can make a case for billet lowers in some sort of competition, but it won't be Highpower. I could see a billet lower if it was paired with a billet upper just for aesthetics. The lower doesn't do anything other than hold the pieces together. Not much stress.
After reading all the great opinions on the PSA kit, I ordered one last night. This will be my first AR. I’ll pick up a trigger too. Any brand of receiver you recommend or are they kind of a horse apiece?
I like 2 stage triggers. You get a safe, light, final pull weight with them.
Right now, the best deal that I'm aware of is the LaRue MBT2S. It feels good and is about 26/28oz 1st & 2nd with the light spring in my gun.
I'm not a big fan of Anderson, but for lower, I'd buy something cheap. Some of the Anderson's are OK, some are weird colors. You'll probably need a short grip screw with them, or about 1/4" worth of washers. I like PSA, Aero, Spikes for budget lowers. There's a lot of others out there. Look for a deal, they aren't difficult to unload if you don't like them.
color of lower does not affect how it works just FYI for folks. Tyrone knows that I'm just tossing it out. All depends on if you are anal or not. Guns are a tool for me. Never really all that concerned about looks though I do have a couple of bolt guns in colors just because I could but I won't go out of my way to buy.... if blems are just color and not functional issues, roll with it.

Slap a CMC flatty trigger in it and you are there.
Hint.............
Stick,
Looks like the kit comes with a trigger. Upgrade worth it?
Any advice on stripped receiver? See if that PSA has a billet receiver.
Thanks
With the Kit in your mitts, you can do as per whim.
Slammed (3) together last night.
PSA makes it easy and I'd source all from them, just to have it all in the same box and defer shipping.

Anderson's are drilled all the way through and 1/4-28 x 1" will connect all dots. Congratulations?!?

Coming from a dumb ass that could rust a diamond, I'm surprised you'd do that. But really, you are so stupid I shouldn't be surprised that you have no clue about galvanic reactions.
Your Estrogen Surge is again reeling, might I suggest yet another 1000cc's of Vagisil,in your usual location? Hint. Congratulations?!?
Be sure to cite your Galvanic "Reasoning" betwixt barrel/receiver interface and ring/rail interface...if only to quantify your STUPIDITY even fhuqking further,by doing your best.

Bless your heart.

Fug Stick, Suck a Glock. You should know that anodizing prevents galvanic corrosion. Try to keep up.

Some people use anti-seize on their barrels. Ever wonder why? Clue.

It's your Imagination, simply Pretend with it however you MUST.

If the hole is tapped all the way through why wouldn’t it be anodized? And FWIW I’ve run a tap through a bunch that weren’t and damned if I’ve had any galvanic issues.
Do you shoot bare steel rings with bare aluminum tubes?
Trybone,
Your haste to take Stupidity to places it's never been before,is rather fhuqking IMPRESSIVE. Hint. Congratulations?!?

PSA offers deals on nickle boron BCG's and you can pick as simple or fancy a charge handle that you like,
After choosing your stripped lower you can get a parts kit with everything but a trigger then add the CMC unit or whatever blows your skirt up. Lots of choices but do not get bogged down get one and shoot hell out of it then you will begin to learn what you like,,,, Good Luck Kenneth

I gave my son a stripped lower and some parts. I can home from work and he was done with it.
He went on YouTube, and watched a few video's and borrowed a few tools from the gun room.....
