Any of you guys ever used the Woodleigh 180PP? I just curious as I have never known anyone to who did over here. I would think if a rifles twist would shoot it well it could be a Mojo thumper of an elk/big hog round? I'd like any feedback from you guys ( Mates?) Rev Jim

Jim, I have used the 180 Woodleigh on elk in a 30 cal. (300 Win Mag). It's outstanding. My .270 shoots Nosler 140s so well I have stayed with them.

Many people think a .270 is crap because there's not 4011 different bullets for it. A 150 grain anything in a .270 will kill about anything shy of pachyderms. You don't need the battleship Mo. to do in most critters. Karamojo Bell killed about 1000 elephants with a 7x57 and if that will do it, then a .270 with about anything will do most of whatever you need done.

No, but if it'll stabilize them you could run em for fun, same thing I did with a Ruger African Express rifle in 30-06, fired the big Woodleigh 240gr bullets to 2400 fps and shot em with the little rifles factory quarter rib express sights, it was a fun banger I used as a mini African big bore rifle.

The 180 .270 Woodleigh was designed for a 1-10 twist, so stabilizes very well in one.
Apparently some shooters still don't understand that bullet length, not weight, is the major factor. The 180 is a relatively blunt bullet.

That bullet was designed to achieve full penetration on Sambar (an asiatic deer about the size of elk and very hard to anchor on the spot) from any angle, whilst doing a lot of damage internally, it works very well and was quite popular when I was involved with hunting them a decade or so ago.
